LATCH GUARD FOR CENTER HUNG DOORS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A latch guard for protecting a door latch installed in a door comprises a removable cover plate with a cylinder pivot hole and two mounting holes located generally above and below the cylinder pivot hole. Adjacent to each mounting hole are two slots that extend from the mounting hole. When installed, the cover plate extends over the space between the door and an adjacent door frame in the area of the latch to protect the latch. The cover plate is mounted to the door by first and second mounting bolts that extend through the slots in the cover plate and completely through the door. Each mounting bolt includes a spacer that spaces the enlarged head of the respective mounting bolt so that the cover plate can rotate about the cylinder pivot hole to allow easy installation and removal of the cover plate. The cover plate may also include anti-spread pins. When the door is closed, the anti-spread pins extend into holes in the adjacent door to prevent spreading of the doors and also to prevent rotation of and thus, removal of the latch cover. The cover plate may also have 90° bends at selected locations that provide added structural strength to the cover plate and provide a space to accommodate a strike plate. The cover plate may be permanently installed on door merely by using a slug placed in the respective mounting hole to prevent rotation of the cover plate.

The emitter layer has a low opant level such that it has sheet resistance of 90 to 170 ohm/sq. Anti-reflection in the PV device is provided solely by a nanostructured or black silicon surface on the light-receiving surface, through which the emitter is formed by diffusion. The nanostructures of the black silicon are formed in a manner that does not result in gold or another high-recombination metal being left in the black silicon such as with metal-assisted etching using silver. The black silicon is further processed to widen these pores so as to provide larger nanostructures with lateral dimensions in the range of 65 to 150 nanometers so as to reduce surface area and also to etch away a highly doped portion of the emitter.

A door lock including a bolt connected by a link to an actuator mechanism by which it is movable within a housing between a retracted position and an extended position. A pin and slot connection between the bolt and link form a coaction mechanism that causes a prong on the link to engage an abutment on the housing when a force is applied to the extended bolt in the direction of its retracted position. As the link pivots, a second abutment on the housing is engaged to further resist bolt movement. The force is then absorbed by the housing rather than the more fragile actuator mechanism. If the bolt is subjected to a force that would tend to pull it from the lock, the link engages another abutment on the housing to retain the bolt. The bolt is movable a short distance from its normal extended position by compressing a spring without transmitting to the link the force applied to the bolt. A hardened security pin within the bolt normally transmits the spring force to the link to avoid looseness.

Alkylene carbonates, particularly ethylene carbonate, are prepared by the reaction of an alkylene oxide with carbon dioxide in the presence of a catalyst at temperatures ranging upwards from 20 DEG C, particularly temperatures above about 90 DEG C, preferably 90-170 DEG C. The conversion of alkylene oxide to alkylene carbonate can be carried out in the presence of water while minimizing the undesirable hydrolysis of the carbonate to the corresponding alkylene glycol and formation of higher glycols. This is achieved by maintaining the water to alkylene oxide molar ratio and the carbon dioxide to alkylene oxide ratio within stated limits and adjusting the carbon dioxide partial pressure to provide the desired selectivity to alkylene carbonate.
