Methods and compositions for detecting molecular interactions, particularly protein-protein interactions, are provided. The invention allows detection of such interactions in living cells or in vitro. Detection of molecular interactions in living cells is not limited to the nuclear compartment, but can be accomplished in the cytoplasm, cell surface, organelles, or between these entities. In one embodiment, the method utilizes novel compositions comprising fusion proteins between the molecules of interest and two or more inactive, weakly-complementing β-galactosidase mutants. Association between the molecules of interest brings the complementing β-galactosidase mutants into proximity so that complementation occurs and active β-galactosidase is produced. The active β-galactosidase may be detected by methods well-known in the art. Among the uses of the invention are the study of protein-protein interactions, functional genomics, agonist and antagonist screening and drug discovery.

A method of forming a lubricating film on a surface, comprising applying to a surface a multiphasic composition comprising at least one (per)fluoropolyether (PFPE) lubricant, water and from 0.1 to 3% by weight of water of at least one thickening agent, said multiphasic composition having a viscosity, when measured at 21° C. at a shear rate of 1 sec −1 of at least 10 Pa×sec so as to form a layer, and drying said layer to form a lubricating film. The Applicant has found that by the use of the multiphasic composition as above detailed it is advantageously possible to convey to surface to be lubricated the PFPE lubricant by using application techniques (doctor blade, metering rod, . . . ) as those suitable for solid-like greases, while the actual conveyed lubricant behaves in lubrication as an oil, avoiding the use of fluorinated solvents.

Red monoazo dyestuffs frm diazotised 1-aminobenzene-2-sulphonic acid-N-methyl-N-cyclohexylamide or 1-amino-4-,-5- or -6-methyl-benzene-2-sulphonic acid-N-methyl-N-cyclohexylamide and 2-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene-6-sulphonic acid are disclosed which are particularly distinguished by their good migration and levelling properties and excellent fastness to light. Said dyestuffs are moreover suitable for obtaining very even combination dyeings together with known blue or yellow acid dyestuffs. These dyestuffs are particularly suited for the dyeing of carpeting, upholstery fabrics and drapery materials.
