METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND DEVICES RELATING TO SHADOW DETECTION FOR REAL-TIME OBJECT IDENTIFICATION

Номер: US20190095710A1
Принадлежит: UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN QUEENSLAND

The automated treatment of agricultural fields allows precise application of treatment to only areas of the field requiring treatment, allowing reduced use of agricultural products such as pesticides and the related reduction in environmental stress. Such automated treatment requires the monitoring of image information of the field to detect objects of interest such as weeds. Such monitoring of image information of the field suffers from the real world problem of shadows cast from the agricultural equipment and/or adjacent trees or structures that cast shadows across the field. Shadows are extracted from the image data by smoothing the data, and developing a shadow mask by employing an intensity histogram and identifying a local minima in the darker intensities of the histogram to identify a shadow threshold. The image areas within the shadow area detected by said mask are then corrected by multiplication with correction coefficients to extract the shadow. 1. In a system for treating agricultural fields where objects in the field are detected and the field is selectively treated in substantial real time , a method of shadow detection and extraction to enable improved detection of objects in the field partially masked by shadow , the method comprising:obtaining an original image of the field to be evaluated for treatment;applying a smoothing filter to the original image to create a smoothed image;developing a histogram of the intensity of pixels in the image;identifying a minima in a lower range of image intensity bins and using the local minima as an intensity threshold of the smoothed image; andcreating a mask based on the intensity threshold determined in said identifying, the mask identifying areas of lower image intensity to identify shadows cast over the image; andenhancing the intensity of image pixels within the shadow mask area to thereby attenuate the effect of shadow on the image and form an enhanced original image;the enhanced original image being used to ...

Phragmites mechanical DNA plant repair stimulation & rain collection method to cause reed and rhizome death

Номер: US20190104724A1
Автор: Kessler June
Принадлежит:

This invention kills the phragmites plant reed and rhizome by stimulating a specific DNA repair response with a mechanical cutting in the lower portion of the middle ⅓ of the reed. The DNA repair instruction for said damage is to seal the ligules closed and sucker outside the above ground ligules starting from the top down. First allow the reed to grow into its seasonal size. Cut just under a ligule in said range and remove the top. The DNA repair response is activated by the position of the cut. Rainwater enters the internal reed components over time, the DNA repair is incapable of sealing the ligule closed, rotting forms on any ligules or suckers and the reed and rhizome die. If the top ligule does seal closed and or suckers it is removed just below the ligule with a second cutting to maintain an open stalk to collect rainwater. 1) I claim: A mechanical method causing death to the phragmites reed and rhizome by triggering a mid-stalk DNA repair response by mechanically cutting a phragmites reed that has grown into its seasonal height , wherein said cutting is above four above ground ligules just below the fifth above ground ligule and removing the top portion of the reed to collect rainwater.2) I claim: A mechanical method causing death to the phragmites reed and rhizome by cutting in the middle ⅓ of a phragmites reed that has grown into its seasonal height to trigger a DNA repair response to sucker and seal at the upper ligules , removing the top portion above the cutting , and within a few weeks making a second cutting of any upper ligule suckers just below the ligule juncture of said suckers , maintaining reed height of at least three above ground ligules on the reed thereafter collecting rainwater. This invention relates to the field of DNA plant repair mechanisms, stimulation and function. In nature numerous conditions occur which challenge a plants life and continuation. In its DNA plants have response plans to physical damage for repairing wounds that ...
