A system and method for incorporating and releasing a substance into a smokable material is provided. In one embodiment of the present invention, a smokable element (e.g., a cigarette) includes a first wrapper and a filler (e.g., tobacco, cannabis , etc.) encased by the first wrapper. A capsule is then embedded within the filler and a second wrapper is placed over the first wrapper adjacent the capsule. The capsule may comprise a liquid (e.g., cannabinoids, terpenes, etc.) encased within a shell. By squeezing the second wrapper, the shell can be crushed (or broken open), releasing the liquid into the filler, thereby creating a “splash zone.” Vapors and/or smoke from the splash zone can then be inhaled by a user, enhancing the user's smoking experience.

The present invention relates to improvements in filters for use in smoking articles such as cigarettes, cigars and cigarillos. The improvements, particularly but not exclusively, relate to filter capabilities and to the manufacture of such filters. In one example, a filter for a smoking article comprises a first fibrous filter material having an average fibre denier in the range 7 to 9 and a second fibrous filter material having an average fibre denier of below 7. The application also describes a filter for a smoking article comprising various other filter arrangements including absorbent and/or adsorbent materials. 1. A smoking article filter comprising: a filter material having a circular cylinder shape with first and second end surfaces and a side surface, and including a corrugated film with ridge portions and valley portions arranged alternately, the ridge portions and valley portions extending from the first end surface to the second end surface to form a plurality of air flow paths that allow air to flow from the first end surface to the second end surface; a plurality of particles arranged in the air flow paths; and a filter wrapping paper wrapping the filter material such that the side surface is covered with the filter wrapping paper. 1. A smoking article filter comprising:a filter material having a circular cylinder shape with first and second end surfaces and a side surface, and including a corrugated film with ridge portions and valley portions arranged alternately, the ridge portions and valley portions extending from the first end surface to the second end surface to form a plurality of air flow paths that allow air to flow from the first end surface to the second end surface;a plurality of particles arranged in the air flow paths; anda filter wrapping paper wrapping the filter material such that the side surface is covered with the filter wrapping paper.2. Embodiments of the invention relate to a smoking and non-smoking aiding pipe having a bypass suction hole and, more particularly, to a smoking and non-smoking aiding pipe in which the introduction of harmful substances from a cigarette is delayed through a bypass suction hole, and harmful components having stickiness such as tar are removed by an adsorbing pad to minimize harmful components introduced into the human body, thereby minimizing damage to the body from smoking and providing a non-smoking effect in the long term.

A smoking article (10) incorporates a tobacco rob ( 12 ) and a filter attached to the tobacco rod. The filter includes a concentric filter segment ( 20 ) having a central core portion ( 23 ) with sorbent material and an outer periphery layer ( 24 ) circumscribed about the central core portion. At least about 80 weight % of the sorbent in the smoking article is disposed in the central core portion. The central core portion has a lower RTD than the periphery layer. A ventilation zone ( 30 ) is disposed adjacent an upstream end of the concentric sorbent segment.

A Method of Fabricating a Filter Element

There is provided a method of fabricating a smoking article filter element including arranging a corrugated laminate web around a portion of filter material having an elongate shape and a longitudinal axis such that the grooves and ridges of the laminate web run in the same direction as the longitudinal axis of the filter material, and there is also provided a method of fabricating a smoking article involving the same method. 1. A method of fabricating a filter element for use in a smoking article comprising:providing a portion of filter material having an elongate shape and a longitudinal axis;providing a corrugated laminate web having grooves and ridges on one face of the laminate web, the corrugated laminate web comprising a corrugated first web and a non-corrugated second web; andarranging the corrugated laminate web around the filter material such that the grooves and ridges of the corrugated laminate web run in the same direction as the longitudinal axis of the filter material.2. A method according to claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises a step of preparing the corrugated laminate web claim 1 , said step comprising providing a corrugated first web and a non-corrugated second web and arranging the corrugated first web and the non-corrugated second web to form a corrugated laminate web.3. A smoking article identification system and method is disclosed herein. The smoking article identification system includes a smoking article identification system comprising a cigarette filter tip including a tubular member insertable within one end of a hand rolled cigarette. The tubular member includes a first end, a second end, at least one smoke-conducting passage configured to pass smoke, produced by combustion of smokable substances of the hand rolled cigarette, between the first end and the second end, and a visual indicator usable to indicate at least one characteristic of the hand rolled cigarette. In addition, a package configured to hold a plurality of the cigarette filter tips is provided. The smoking article identification system is useful for hand-rolled smoking article identification.

An integrated cigarette filter that can light up, cut and put out a cigarette, hold ash and butts and filter smoke. It comprises upper and lower casings and is characterized by a smoke-collecting hood arranged on the upper casing and an inlet ventilator furnished inside the hood.
