A periodontal tray system , comprising:a tray layer that is designed to confirm to at least a portion of an individual's mouth, wherein the tray layer has an opening formed therein, wherein at least one of a liquid or a periodontal aid passes through the opening formed in the tray layer and into an area of periodontal disease in the individual's mouth, and wherein the at least one of the liquid or the periodontal aid is designed to treat periodontal disease.2. A closed system mouthpiece uses light and heat generation to activate a gel formulation to increase its volume. The gel formulation is coated into the mouthpiece, which is inserted into the user's mouth. Application of heat above a threshold temperature causes the gel to transform into foam and expand out of the mouthpiece and into the oral cavity. The mouthpiece creates a hermetic seal such that the foam expands out throughout the oral cavity into nooks and crannies that are normally difficult to access. System and methodology objectively capture clinical data on oral health and provide standardized scoring for quantifying oral health. The process of capturing clinical data is based on use of an intraoral camera with imaging software that has the capacity to capture digital images of all tooth surfaces. Digital plaque data are collected in a standardized manner per tooth, and with the ability to select optimal frames for analysis. Data are extracted per tooth into a software program. Color classification of each pixel is determined by the software program using an algorithm that makes use of red/green/blue color code combinations.
