It is difficult to detect whether the rubber seal on a vial or on a hypodermic syringe cartridge has been penetrated, because the rubber seal over the mouth of the container is purposely soft and self-sealing to prevent contamination of the fluid within the container. As a result pilfering of narcotics from such containers has gone largely undetected. To remedy this situation, a blister-like sac of a plastic film and containing a harmless dye is mounted within the mouth of the container between the rubber seal and the contents of the container. It is impossible for a hypodermic needle to be inserted through the seal and into the fluid within the container without puncturing the blister-like sac and thereby releasing the harmless dye into the fluid within the container. Thus, if the seal has been broken, the fluid in the container will be tinted with the color of the harmless dye.

The cover is made with two parts that close on each other over a cap on a drug product bottle. Each cover part has a semi-cylindrical periphery, a semi-circular lid and a radially inwardly directed ledge along a bottom edge of the semi-cylindrical periphery to fit under the cap of a bottle in a closed position. The production of a protein free synthetic polyisoprene which has both low levels of chemical impurities and good physical properties has yet to be realized. It has now been envisioned that the use of neodymium catalyzed polyisoprene will offer the combined advantages of both a clean, as well as, high cis-1,4 polymer. Synthesis of polyisoprene rubber using a neodymium based catalyst system is described. Characterization of the material shows the absence of an ultra high molecular weight fraction and the presence of very high cis-1,4-microstructure. Gum stock and black filled compound studies comparing neodymium polyisoprene with natural rubber, titanium polyisoprene, and lithium polyisoprene have been performed. Results indicate that polyisoprene rubber synthesized using a neodymium catalyst system (Nd—PI) has similar stress-strain and tear properties as synthetic titanium polyisoprene. Analysis of residual volatile, extractable, and oligomer levels indicates Nd—PI is indeed a clean source of high cis synthetic polyisoprene. 1. The present disclosure provides an injectable medication security device. The device may comprise a recess on a first portion of the device. The recess may be configured to receive and couple to a neck portion of a vial containing the injectable medication. The device may comprise an opening on a second portion of the device, to permit access to a penetrable cover of the vial. The device may comprise at least one aperture configured to control access to the opening. The device may comprise a depressible switch. The depressible switch may be configured to cause the at least one aperture to open and provide access to the opening when the depressible switch is depressed, thereby permitting the medication to be drawn from the vial. The depressible switch may be configured to cause the at least one aperture to lock and close the opening when the depressible switch is released. 1.
