The present invention relates to a rock crushing apparatus. Known apparatus operate on the distinct principles of compression crushing (compression between moving surfaces) or impact crushing (compression via high velocity rock impacting a surface). Both types of apparatus have disadvantages in the quality of the crushed product, energy inefficiency or high rotor wear rates. The apparatus ( 1 ) comprises a rotor ( 2 ) comprising a number of reciprocating ( 11 ) and fixed compression crushing elements ( 12, 13 ) to compression crush the rock between adjacent reciprocating and fixed surfaces. The positioning of these elements ( 11, 12, 13 ) within the rotor performs an arresting action on the rock to limit the maximum radial velocity (Vr) the rock attains before its ejection from the compression crushing elements ( 11, 12, 13 ) for impact crushing on an adjacent surface. In this way the disadvantages of compression and impact crushing are minimised to produce a superior product.

A waste management system, primarily intended to be for waste floating in water, though it can also be used on land. A shredding device will reduce the size of the particles of waste. Ocean water is removed by a drying device. The dried waste material is cryogenically frozen using liquid nitrogen or other suitable means. The frozen waste material is then pulverized and ground into a powder. The powder may then be sprayed into a gas-filled chamber and heated. Temperature, pressure and humidity are maintained within the chamber for more than one minute. Microwave or other radiation and catalysts may be used to enhance the process of extraction. The processed material is then removed from the chamber. Carbon and water may be recycled. The carbon may be used as fuel by the ship. Water may also be used by the ship or returned to the ocean in a non-toxic condition.

The underside of the top structure and the topside of the bottom structure include open faced chambers for disposing a set of cutting projections or teeth. When the top structure joins to the bottom structure, the open faced chambers combine to form a grinding chamber for grinding natural materials. A rotating tapering cone or tube is used for separating liquid from trash. The cone or tube is constructed of either a wire mesh or parallel slats. The cone or tube is located in a complete trash disposal system. At the front of the system there is a trash intake funnel which delivers the trash to a device for shredding the trash which will deliver the shredded trash to the tapered cone including a high speed air stream. The tube is rotated at a high rate of speed whereby any fluid in the shredded trash will be expelled through the surface of the tube by way of a centrifugal and an intensive air speed. 1. A trash drying system consisting of a trash intake , said trash intake delivers the trash to a shredder located within a shredder housing , means for delivering the shredded trash into a tapered expulsion tube rotating at high speed , means for creating a high speed air stream by a fan motor including means for delivering said air stream into said tapered expulsion tube , said tapered expulsion tube having an open mesh surface , any fluid present in said shredded trash will be expelled through said mesh surface by way of a centrifugal force and a high air pressure.2. A method for processing a supply of post-consumer scrap linear low density or low density polyethylene film into near-virgin quality blown film product. The method includes tearing the supply of film in a shredder, wherein the surface area of the film is exposed, including delaminating the film. The torn supply of film is washed in a hot water bath including a surfactant. The film is agitated in the bath containing the surfactant wherein contaminants on the film are removed from the film. The washed film is ground into smaller pieces and additional washing of the ground film in a rotating friction washer occurs wherein additional contaminants are removed from the film. The ground film is then dried in a dryer and compacted in a compactor without addition of water into granulated objects of near-virgin quality blown film product.
