The invention relates to a single step process involving mixing of precursor compositions of a suitable hypohalite or hypohalous acid with a solution of a reducing agent. Optionally a boiler may be present in either or both precursor compositions, such that at time of use such active hypohalous acid concentration, in the resulting aqueous mixture remains at a sufficient activity level to effect one or more desired benefits against a target substrate for a desired period of time. A method of dispensing adhesive onto a stretched elastic strand includes applying a first volume of adhesive onto a first portion of the elastic strand, applying a second volume of adhesive onto a second portion of the elastic strand, and applying a third volume of adhesive onto a third portion of the elastic strand. The second volume is less than the first and third volumes. When the elastic strand is adhered to a substrate to form a personal disposable hygiene product, the first and third portions of the elastic strand define opposing ends of the elastic strand, which are adhered with a larger amount of adhesive to resist creep at the opposing ends. The reduction of adhesive in the second or central portion between the opposing ends significantly reduces the adhesive add on in the personal disposable hygiene product.

A coating device has: a die head that is provided with a supply port into which a coating slurry is supplied, a manifold that stores the coating slurry, and a slit that dispenses the coating slurry; a supply pipe that is connected to the supply port of the die head; and a cover plate that is provided in the supply port or the supply pipe and that reduces the flow rate of the coating slurry at the center of a cross-section that is orthogonal to the direction in which the coating slurry in the supply port or the supply pipe flows into the die head. 1. A tandem system of metering and donor rolls is used to apply two different adhesives to a fully adhesive backed multilayer sheet to produce variably distributed adhesives and properties. Each of the two adhesives is unique and is cured differently to create a layer of adhesive that has differing adhesive properties on the sheet. A clear adhesive is applied to a top portion of cards before they are cut from the sheet and has a higher tackiness than the adhesive applied to the rest of the cards on the sheet in order to reduce glue buildup on blades cutting the cards from the sheet. 1. A method for applying a dual pressure sensitive adhesives to individual portions of media , comprising:providing media for receiving dual pressure sensitive adhesives thereon, said media including paper portions and clear polymer carrier portions;providing drive rolls for conveying said media to a downstream location;providing a pair of transfer rolls forming nips with said drive rolls for conveying said media to said downstream location;providing a pair of sumps with each holding a pressure sensitive adhesive of a different tackiness;providing a pair of rotatable cylinders with a portion of each extending into said pair of sumps, said pair of rotatable cylinders being adapted to pick up pressure sensitive adhesives from said pair of sumps;providing a pair of donor rolls mating with said pair of rotatable cylinder members with said pair of donor rolls being adapted pickup said pressure sensitive adhesives from said pair of rotatable cylinders, and wherein said pair of donor rolls includes surrounding raised rings corresponding to the width of said paper portions and said clear polymer carrier portions of said media, respectively; andproviding a pair of transfer rolls adapted to transfer said pressure sensitive adhesives from said pair of donor rolls to said media.2. Methods and apparatus for mixing and applying a bead of material. For example, the bead of material can be used to seal gaps cracks and seams of a building. The apparatus includes a supply machine and an applicator. The supply machine provides each of the parts of the material to the applicator at a controlled rate. The applicator mixes the parts of the material at a nozzle. The applicator provides a bead (rather than spraying) of the mixed material through the nozzle. The bead of material may be applied in a precise manner to seal gaps, cracks and seams of an existing building and/or the bead may be provided during new construction of a building between components of the building.

A coating system comprising an epoxy coating layer prepared from an epoxy formulation which comprises an epoxy resin; a curing agent with no more than 4.5 wt % free amine based on a weight solids of the curing agent; and an adjacent layer prepared from a non-isocyanate polyurethane formulation wherein the epoxy formulation and/or non-isocyanate polyurethane formulation optionally further comprise one or more additives selected from the group consisting of solvent, reactive diluent, plasticizer, pigment, filler; rheology modifiers, dispersants, surfactants, UV stabilizers, and corrosion inhibitors is provided. Also provided are a method of applying a multi-layer coating system and an article comprising a coating system. 1. A method and devices for dispensing adhesive onto an elastic strand are configured to apply first, second, and third volumes of adhesive onto first, second, and third portions of the elastic strand, respectively. When the elastic strand is adhesively secured to a substrate to form a personal disposable hygiene product, the first and third portions of the elastic strand define opposing ends of the elastic strand, which are adhered with a larger amount of adhesive or a stronger adhesive material capable of limiting movement of the strand at the opposing ends. The method and devices advantageously use a module and nozzle which maintain separation between first and second adhesive streams received from different adhesive supplies at least until flow within the nozzle. This arrangement enables use of different adhesives to form the first, second, and third volumes, as well as “wet-on-wet” contact dispensing using multiple nozzle outlets.

An apparatus and method for producing a coated analytic substrate using a compact and portable automated instrument located in the laboratory setting at the point of use which can consistently produce one or a plurality of coated analytic substrates “on demand” for using the analytic substrate immediately after coating, preferably without a step of rinsing the coated analytic substrate before use. The apparatus preferably uses applicator cartridges having a reservoir containing the coating compositions used to form the coatings. Preferably the cartridges are removable and interchangeable to facilitate the production of individual analytic substrates having different coatings or different coating patterns. These coated analytic substrates have superior specimen adhesion characteristics due to the improved quality of the coatings applied by the coating apparatus and due to the quickness with which the coated analytic substrates can be used in the lab after production.

The present application relates to a slot die coating apparatus and, more particularly, to a slot die coating apparatus which can ensure the coating stability of a substrate film by reducing pressure oscillations within a vacuum chamber when slot die coating is carried out. The slot die coating apparatus according to the present application can effectively dampen pressure oscillations within a vacuum chamber by connecting a pressure oscillation reducing tank to the vacuum chamber and thus can ensure the coating stability of a substrate film, resulting in a reduction in the proportion of defective products. 1. An apparatus for accurately coating discrete patches of coating on a moving substrate is described. The coating system applies coating to a moving substrate using a coating distribution device.
