The longitudinal guide is arranged in the edge area of a rotatable round table which in turn is let into a work rest which on one side of the round table, where the latter has a plunging slot continuous up to the periphery, has a recess, corresponding to the mitre-cut range, for the saw blade. The round table is provided with an extension arm which has a plunging slot in alignment with the plunging slot of the round table. This configuration results in the advantage that a smaller round table and thus also a smaller unit overall can be provided, although a large cutting range is to be covered.

A wood product assembly includes a cutter subassembly and a skewing assembly. A cutter positioning body is movable by a slewing assembly along a slewing axis. A spindle housing is mounted to the cutter positioning body for pivotal movement about a pivot axis. A spindle, to which a cutter, such as a sawblade or chipper head, is affixed, is mounted to the spindle housing for rotation about a spindle rotation axis by a cutter driver. The skewing assembly is coupled to the spindle housing to position the spindle rotation axis to a selected angular orientation to position the cutter at a selected skew angle. In some examples the cutter driver comprises a drive source fixedly secured to a frame and an extendable length universal-joint driveline assembly.

The mitre-box saw has a length setting correction device enabling correction to the difference between the internal and external dimensions of a mitred rod. A measurement rod read against a setting mark is used for saw adjustment. The adjustment marking is part of a slider scale which slides w.r.t. fixed scales and is numbered oppositely to them. The fixed scales have double and half the sliding scale division interval. The adjustment mark is moved according to the total redn. in setting different profile heights. The device is applicable to window making and eliminates the need for an expensive computer. The saw is adjusted simply to the known external dimension of a frame using the rule on the saw. It is not necessary to continually reset to the inner dimension as with other non-computerised devices.
