A cylinder of a printing press is supported by bearings in side frames of the printing press. An inner ring of a radial bearing serves a journal of the cylinder which is arranged directly over a bearing agent in an outer ring thus enabling a radial movement of the journal. The outer ring is mounted, either directly or indirectly in an opening of the side frame. The radial bearing is arranged in a region of the outer ring, as viewed in an axial direction of the cylinder, which protrudes out of a frame alignment of the side frame toward the side of the cylinder. The bearing agent which enables radial movement of the cylinder is also arranged in a region of the outer ring protruding out of the frame alignment of the side frame toward the side of the cylinder.

An offset printing method includes creating halftone dots corresponding to a printed image and formed of printing ink, on a surface of a transfer cylinder and transferring the halftone dots to a printing substrate while the transfer cylinder rotates about its longitudinal axis. A halftone value in a printed image on the printing substrate is adjusted to a desired value by modifying a halftone dot size. The offset printing method improves the quality of the printed image by increasing the halftone dot size by a desired amount by providing a relative offset between a device that creates the halftone dots and the surface of the transfer cylinder. 1. An offset printing method comprising the following steps:creating halftone dots of printing ink on a surface of a transfer cylinder, corresponding to an image to be printed;transferring the halftone dots during a revolution of the transfer cylinder about its longitudinal axis onto a printing substrate;adjusting a tone value to attain a desired value in a printed image on the printing substrate by modifying a halftone dot size; andincreasing a halftone dot size by a desired amount by providing a relative offset between a device creating the halftone dots and a surface of the transfer cylinder.2. The intermediate roller may be temperature controlled. A uniform layer of fountain solution condenses onto the surface of the temperature controlled intermediate roller regardless of the imaging blanket temperature. The fountain solution condensate layer deposited onto the intermediate roller splits and deposits a thin uniform layer of fountain solution liquid onto the imaging member surface. This liquid layer split may be independent of the temperature of the imaging member surface, resulting in a uniform layer of fountain solution on the imaging blanket for better imaging quality. Remotely locating the vaporizing chamber away from the imaging member prevents undesired heat transfer from a hot vaporizing chamber/baffle to the imaging member surface.
