When the data is determined to be less influenced by the disturbance and therefore to be reliable, an adjusting value for aligning positions in printing in reciprocal movements is calculated by use of: data with the smallest relative printing position misalignment between the first and second alignment pattern elements; and data of optical characteristics close to the data. When the data is largely influence by the disturbance, a range of shifting of relative position is widened than that of the data less influenced by the disturbance so that more data pieces are used to obtain the adjusting value.

The inventive viscous damping tube stabilizer includes modules or capsules containing a viscous material. Adjacent capsules are linked end to end by a flexible cable, allowing the device o pass through curves such as the U-bend regions of steam generator tubes. The weight of the entire assembly will keep it essentially connected to the tube inner diameter such that any tube vibration is transmitted to the stabilizer. The viscous material may only partially fill the capsules such that even under small motion the material can slip and slide past each other, and/or bump into walls, each microscopically absorbing some of the tube energy. By creating multiple cells inside the capsule, the capsule then have good operating characteristics no matter to what angle the individual capsule is oriented as it rests on the full U-bend. The viscous material may completely fill the capsules, which also have a perforated member positioned therein. Relative movement of the capsule and disc causes the viscous material to pass through the perforations, providing damping resistance to the movement. 1. A stabilizer for use with a hollow tube , comprising a plurality of capsules , adjacent ones of said capsules being interconnected by a flexible linking member , said capsules containing damping material that is free to move about an interior volume of said capsules.2. In a printing apparatus configured to print an image by bidirectional multipass printing while using multiple print element rows that apply color material of the same color, a high-quality image suppressed in hue unevenness and density unevenness is printed. To this end, the printing apparatus forms first and second dot patterns on a print medium in an overlapping manner. In the first dot pattern, dot arrays in which first dot groups are arranged at an interval B are arranged in a nozzle arrangement direction while being shifted from each other by C in a scanning direction of a print head.
