A weatherstrip such as a glass run incorporates an associated anti-entrapment sensor. The glass run includes an elastomeric material having first and second legs interconnected by a base wall that together receive an associated automotive window peripheral edge and a recess formed in the elastomeric material dimensioned to receive the associated anti-entrapment sensor therein. The recess has a substantially T-shaped cross-sectional cavity in one embodiment and the pinch sensor has a substantially T-shaped cross-sectional conformation dimensioned for mating receipt in the T-shaped cavity. Facing, first and second flexible sidewall portions flex for ease of insertion and retention of the pinch sensor in the cavity. A fusible layer secures the weatherstrip and pinch sensor after assembly thereof. Preferably, the weatherstrip is formed from multiple materials, one of which is a low friction material.

The anti-rotation feature biases against the flange to draw the backing plate against the flange to remove lash from between the flange and the backing plate in a lateral direction relative to a first primary axis of the retention clip. An axial biasing member biases against the top edge of the flange to remove lash from between a lower edge of the flange and a latch of the retention clip in an axial direction along the first primary axis. A spacing element engages an interior surface of the outer belt weatherstrip in abutting engagement to resist movement of the outer belt weatherstrip relative to the retention clip along the first primary axis. A release mechanism allows the retention clip to disengage from the flange.

A weatherstrip assembly for a vehicle. The assembly includes a body having a base and first and second legs which define a channel. The body includes an interior base surface, a first interior leg surface, and a second interior leg surface disposed within the channel. The assembly includes at least one sealing lip having an abutment surface and a wearstrip disposed along at least one of the interior base surface, the first and second interior leg surfaces, and the abutment surface and formed of a thermoplastic polyethylene material. The wearstrip has a plurality of alternating wear sections and gaps that define a series of alternating semi-rigid and flexible sections, respectively, with each wear section having first and second surfaces. The first surface of one of the wear sections and the second surface of an adjacent wear section face each other to define the gap. 1.
