The invention relates to a method for the preferably continuous packaging of products, in particular foods, with or without an already stabilized inherent shape such as fresh meat, meat products and sausage products, sausage meat emulsion or similar products by encasing them on all sides with single-layer or multilayer films that can be fed from the web. According to the invention flexible films that can be deformed without the action of heating and are self-resetting, are used as bottom web films, wherein the bottom web films are temporarily deformed by the action of pressure in order to form troughs for receiving product. The respective product is introduced as portions into the trough and fixed there, wherein it is fixed by a top web film or covering film, optionally supported by a restrainer. When the action of pressure is released, preferably the bottom web film performs its resetting process and encloses the product thereby at least in part in such a manner that unwanted air inclusions are removed and also a certain product compaction occurs. An apparatus for wrapping a load with packaging material , the apparatus comprising:a packaging material dispenser for dispensing packaging material to the load;a rotational drive configured to generate relative rotation between the packaging material dispenser and the load about a center of rotation; anda controller coupled to the packaging material dispenser and the rotational drive and configured to control the packaging material dispenser during the relative rotation to dispense at a first dispense rate at a first rotational position about the center of rotation, wherein the first dispense rate at which the controller controls the packaging material dispenser at the first rotational position is determined using a curve fit between second and third rotational positions that are respectively before and after the first rotational position about the center of rotation and for which predicted demands are determined.2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the curve is a demand curve defining a demand at each of a plurality of rotational positions between the second and third rotational positions.3. The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the first dispense rate is determined by scaling a demand from the demand curve based upon a wrap force parameter.4. Mattresses are packaged by successively rolling two compressed mattresses into a roll in which a rolling wrapper forms a spiral when viewed from an end of the roll. A film dispenser for stretch wrapping machines , comprising:at least one roller, the roller having a longitudinal axis and a circumferential film engaging surface;a braking surface extending circumferentially around the roller relative to the circumferential film engaging surface; andan electrically-actuated first brake engageable with either a portion of a sector of the braking surface or a portion of an area defined by an arc along the braking surface of the at least one roller, the first brake selectively adjustable between a first configuration engaged with the braking surface and applying a first braking force to the braking surface, and a second configuration wherein the first brake is disengaged from the braking surface or is only minimally engaged such that any braking force applied is substantially less than the first braking force.2. The film dispenser of claim 1 , further comprising:a disk coupled with a first axial end of the at least one roller, the disk having first and second oppositely disposed sides;wherein the braking surface is located on circumferentially extending portions of the first and second sides of the disk.3.
