A top edge of the engagement plate stretches upwardly along the hole, so that the engagement plate is located in the hole. The plates are flexible. As such, the engagement plate can be pressed and bent inwardly when the lid covers a cup. The engagement plate would then engage with the rim flange of the cup so as to enhance engagement of the lid and the cup.

A lid for a container having a bead around an opening is provided. The lid has a cap including an aperture and an annular base depending from the cap, the base having a first annular recess sized to engage the bead of the container to provide a first fastening engagement with the container and a second annular recess adjacent to the first annular recess, the second annular recess sized to engage a second bead located adjacent to the first bead, and provide a second fastening engagement. Tamper-resistance is provided in spice container closures and containers through use of tamper-evident and/or tamper-resistant elements. A tamper evident closure includes a base, a cover, and a tamper strip, with the tamper strip being joined to the base and cover by a first hinge connecting the tamper strip to the base and a second hinge connecting the tamper strip to the cover. At least one dispensing port in the base is selectively coverable by a flap of the cover. The tamper strip is adapted to be manually torn away and fully released from the cover and base. The beads are preferably formed in rings, which in the case of the lid is positioned on the underside of the cap, and in the case of the vessel is positioned at the mouth of the vessel. Also in preferred embodiments, the beads can have outward curls, inward curls, or have a split formation. Both lid and vessel are preferably made of at least 85 wt % paper. The non-paper percentages can advantageously comprise one or more of glues, adhesives, films, and/or moisture barriers, and in most preferred embodiments, the moisture barrier is also an adhesive.

A container lid is provided having a paperboard dome-shaped central cover portion, a generally flat and horizontal peripheral lid rim extending outwardly around at least part of the cover portion, and a plastic ring circumscribing at least part of the lid rim. The plastic ring's flange may be semi-permanently attached to the lid rim and may be optionally secured thereto by an adhesive, a polymeric film or a heat seal coating. The present invention relates to lids for beverage containers, and more particularly to a lid including an elongated spout with an opening for dispensing the liquid. An elongated spout has an opening located at a distance from the lid, such that when drinking a liquid from the beverage container, the opening is located beyond the user's teeth such that contact by the liquid with the teeth, such as the front of the user's teeth, is reduced or eliminated.
