A process for purifying a polyol (per)fluoropolyether derivative [polyol (P)] from a mixture of hydroxyl (per)fluoropolyether derivatives [mixture (M)]. Such polyol (P) comprising one or more hydroxyl (per)fluoropolyether derivatives [PFPE (OH)] comprising at least one (per)fluoropolyoxyalkylene chain (chain R f ) and at least one end-group having formula (t 3 )-CF 2 CH 2 OCH 2 CH(OH)CH 2 OCH 2 CH(OH)CH 2 OH. Such mixture (M) comprising the polyol (P) and at least one PFPE (OH) different from the polyol (P) and comprising at least one chain R f and at least one end-group selected from end-groups having formula (t 1 )-CF 2 CH 2 OH and formula (t 2 )-CF 2 CH 2 OCH 2 CH(OH)CH 2 OH. The process comprises the steps of: 1) reacting the mixture (M) with a ketone, an aldehyde or a combination thereof to yield corresponding mixture of cyclic ketal/acetal (per)fluoropolyether derivatives [PFPEs (OH) p ] [protected mixture (P)]; 2) carrying out a molecular distillation of the protected mixture (P) to isolate a protected product heavy residue [product (P r )]; 3) hydrolyzing the product (P r ) to yield deprotected product [product (P d ]); and 4) carrying out a distillation under reduced pressure of the product (P d ) to obtain polyol (P).

A method for the manufacture of fluorinated polymers and polymers obtainable therefrom are herein disclosed. The method envisages the reaction of a) first reagent [reagent (R1)] which is an alcohol selected from a (per)fluoropolyether (PFPE) alcohol a fluoroalkylene diol and a mixture thereof; b) a second reagent [reagent (R2)] which is a sulfonic ester of a PFPE, a sulfonic diester of a fluoroalkylene diol or a mixture thereof and, optionally, c) a third reagent which is a mono-functional (per)haloalkyl alcohol or a sulfonic ester thereof in the presence of an organic or inorganic base. At least reagent (R1) is a PFPE alcohol (A) or at least reagent (R2) is a PFPE sulfonic ester (B) and the overall equivalents of alcohols are the same as the overall equivalents of sulfonic esters. The method allows to obtain in a convenient way non-functional polymers comprising at least a PFPE segment and having high molecular weight.

The present invention is related to a product for the resolution of racemic mixtures in which various separation processes of a salt composed of a PEGylated resolving agent and an enantiomer in a racemic mixture is utilized. A device, system, and method for removing a component from a gas are disclosed. A bead consisting of a core and an outer layer is provided. The outer layer consists of a first impermeable material. The core consists of a second material. A carrier gas, containing a vapor, is passed across the bead, desublimating or desublimating and condensing a portion of the vapor onto the bead. In some embodiments, the beads are passed into the column at a first temperature and the carrier gas is passed across the beads. A portion of the vapor desublimates or desublimates and condenses onto the beads as a solid product, causing the beads to expand in volume as they are warmed to a second temperature.
