A water soluble biodegradable polymer prepared by a process comprising:preparing a mixture of phosphatide and triglyceride;reacting the mixture of the phosphatide and the triglyceride with an anhydride in an organic solvent with a first catalyst at an elevated temperature in the range of 100° C. to 160° C. for a duration ranging from one to three hours to form a reaction product;hydrolyzing the reaction product;separating the organic solvent from the reaction product;adding a second monomer along with a second catalyst to the separated reaction product to form a reaction mass;curing the reaction mass under stirring at a reflux temperature ranging from one to three hours to form a reaction mixture; andcooling the reaction mixture and neutralizing the reaction mixture with a caustic solution to obtain the water soluble biodegradable polymer.2. A bondable blood-friendly polymer is a terpolymer or a quadripolymer at least formed by polyethylene glycol alkyl ether acrylate or polyethylene glycol alkyl ether methacrylate (I), and zwitterionic acrylic ester or zwitterionic methacrylic ester (II), and acrylic acid or a methacrylate derivative with an epoxypropyl group, an isocyanate group, a trialkoxy silane, a hydroxyalkyl group, a propargyl group or a quaternary ammonium group (III). In the present invention, the blood-friendly polymer with a potentially-bondable group has the following advantages: although the water insolubility thereof is implemented by using the hydrophobicity physical effect of an existing higher alkyl acrylate linkage, the blood friendliness of a coating is reduced due to the existence of a great number of hydrophobic chain links in the polymer; and a physical coating is slowly desolventized from the surface to be ablated in the application process of the physical coating. A disclosed bondable blood-friendly polymer coating not only can overcome these defects, but also can improve the blending property thereof. Disclosed are composition, a structure and a preparation method of the bondable blood-friendly polymer.

The invention is generally related to a method for producing, in a consistent manner, SiHy contact lenses each having an intact durable coating thereon, wherein the coating is a hydrogel coating formed by covalently attached a hydrophilic polymeric material onto a base coating of a polyanionic polymer on a SiHy contact lens. In this method, the base coating is formed by having two solution coating steps separated by at least one rinsing step with a buffered saline or pH controlled solution. The durability of the hydrogel coatings on resultant silicone hydrogel contact lenses can be improved significantly and will not vary with the optical power (i.e., the center thickness) of the SiHy contact lens under coating.
