Devices and methods for removing oxidizable stains are provided. In one example, a device includes a device body having an opening and an internal space disposed therein. The device body includes a wall that at least partially surrounds the internal space. At least part of the wall is a flexible wall. A frangible wall separates the internal space into a first chamber and a second chamber. One or more solid components are disposed in the first chamber and include an active oxygen component. Water is disposed in the second chamber. A bleach activator component forms part of the one or more solid components or is included with water. A new method of delivering more precise amounts of carpet mill dye to regions of discoloration using a roller-ball applicator enables precisely metered delivery of the three primary dye colors to discolored carpet fibers. The method eliminates the need for a water extraction, enables the restoration of a more uniform color pattern, and eliminates dye overspray outside of the treated region that is inherent with the use of a spray bottle. The applicator is held with a loose grip and the roller ball is alternately moved in clockwise and counter-clockwise directions while in contact with the carpet fibers to be dyed. This ensures that dye is delivered to all sides of the fiber. To ensure even dye penetration and improved motion of the roller ball, an emulsifier is added to the dye solution. After each application, a microfilament cloth is wiped across the treated region. 1. Compositions described herein are aqueous detergent compositions, preferably hard surface cleaning compositions, which contain alkyl aryl sulfonate surfactant, selected hydrophobic cleaning solvent, polycarboxylic acid, and aqueous solvent system in solution and/or a micellar phase, the pH being from about 2 to about 4. These have excellent soap scum removal and hard water deposit removal properties and are easy to rinse. Such compositions optionally contain additional anionic sulfate surfactant, cationic surfactant, peroxide and/or hydrophilic polymer for additional benefits.

It is believed that the reaction of hydrogen peroxide with the imine quat. oxygen transfer agents proceeds through a different route than that of the organic and inorganic peroxides. Furthermore it is believed that when hydrogen peroxide is used as the bleaching agent in the pH range indicated, a surprising improvement in the efficacy of the bleaching system occurs and it is possible to formulate peroxide based systems which have efficacy approaching or exceeding that of hypochlorite without the disadvantages associated with hypochlorite. A further aspect of the present invention provides a method for bleaching a stained substrate which comprises the step of treating the substrate with a bleaching composition of pH 10-14, which bleaching composition comprises an oxygen transfer agent and hydrogen peroxide.

The present invention provides an apparatus for surface cleaning, in which a first liquid, which includes an oxidizing agent, and a second liquid, which includes a builder or a chelating agent, are initially maintained separately. The apparatus is constructed to facilitate delivery of these two liquids such that they are combined to form an admixture during delivery to a surface to be treated. Either or both of the first and second liquids include a pH-adjusting agent, which is present in an amount such that when the liquids are so delivered, the resulting admixture is maintained at a pH sufficient for cleaning efficacy and stability of the oxidizing agent. The present invention also provides a composition produced by a process of maintaining the two above-mentioned liquids separately and forming an admixture thereof during delivery to a surface to be treated.

GC108+ ABSTRACT Liquid Detergent Compositions The present invention relates to aqueous alkaline built detergent compositions containing hydrogen peroxide. Alkaline conditions present particular difficulties for preventing the hydrogen peroxide from decomposing excessively rapidly during storage. Aqueous compositions containing a builder, especially polyphosphate or citrate, anionic sulphate or sulphonate surfactant, nonionic ethoxylate surfactant and hydrogen peroxide of acceptable peroxide stability can be obtained by employing an alcohol, preferably ethanol, or a polyhydroxy carboxylate, preferably gluconate, or especially both, in conjunction with a phosphonate, especially an ethylene amine methylene phosphonate. Many of such alkaline compositions are formulated to permit the anionic surfactant to work at or near to its optimum pH in conjunction with the builder. The invention also provides similar, but unbuilt compositions containing instead of the builder, additional surfactant, generally nonionic surfactant, and having a somewhat lower pH.

ABSTRACT HYDROGEN PEROXIDE COMPOSITIONS The effectiveness of hydrogen peroxide for bleaching and disinfecting at ambient to hand hot temperatures can be enhanced by reaction with a peracid generator (activator), but the provision of storage stable concentrated aqueous liquid premixes of hydrogen peroxide and activator presents many problems arising from the physical and chemical properties of the components. The present invention provides aqueous acidic emulsions of hydrogen peroxide and enol esters, preferably at a pH of 2 to 5 and containing a slight excess of hydrogen peroxide over an equivalent mole ratio to enol ester activator of 1:1. The concentrations of the components of some preferred emulsions are selected in the ranges of 3 to 20% hydrogen peroxide, 30 to 85% water, 10 to 30% enol ester (%s by weight based upon the emulsion) and from 10 to 70% by weight based on the enol ester of emulsifiers. In preferred compositions, the activator is selected from vinyl or isopropenyl or but-1-enyl or cyclohex-1-enyl acetate or benzoate and divinyl adipate or phthalate, and 1,5-diacetoxypenta-1,4-diene. The compositions can be used as such or upon dilution with aqueous media and in conjunction with detergent compositions, and for cleaning and disinfecting absorbent or non-absorbent materials.
