Low emissivity products and methods for making same

Номер: US6251495B1
Принадлежит: Louisiana Pacific Corp

This invention relates to a method for producing a product which exhibits (a) a low level of emissivity and (b) a high level of moisture vapor permeability, and which enables trapped excess moisture to be transported from the product to the surrounding atmosphere while maintaining its effective radiant barrier properties. The product is an underlying substrate, having a pair of outer major surfaces and a radiant barrier material adhered to at least one of the pair of outer major surfaces of the underlying substrate with an adhesive material to form a radiant barrier material covered substrate. A plurality of apertures are formed in the radiant barrier material covered substrate. These apertures extend substantially completely through both the radiant barrier material and the adhesive material thereby forming substantially completely open moisture vapor flow channels which create a high level of moisture vapor permeability through the radiant barrier material and the adhesive material. In this way, a substantial amount of trapped excess moisture can pass from the underlying substrate into the surrounding atmosphere to avoid unwanted degradation of the underlying substrate, while maintaining the low level of emissivity of the product.

This invention provides fall protection systems, in metal building construction, and methods of installing such systems. A given such system comprises a suspension fabric, supported by a grid-work of longitudinal and lateral support bands. The distance of the safety band from the rafter corresponds to about 40 percent to about 75 percent of the diameter of the bag. Thus for a 30-inch diameter bag, the distance between the edge of the rafter and the middle of the safety band is about 12 inches to about 23 inches. The safety band protects the suspension fabric from being cut by the near edge of the rafter when a falling object impacts the fall protection system near the edge of the rafter.

An underlayment sheet (10, 10’) is applied in overlapping courses to a roof deck (36) for establishing a weather-resistant membrane for use as a final exposed surface or below a roof covering (50). The underlayment sheet (10, 10’) has a bottom surface (16, 16’) to which a pressure sensitive adhesive section (22, 22’) is applied generally continuously along its length. A non-adhesive section (24, 24’) also extends the length of the bottom surface (16, 16') adjacent its upper long edge (18, 18’) for providing a contact surface with the roof deck (36) which is devoid of any adhesive material. The non-adhesive section (24, 24’) is attached to the roof deck (36) using tin tags (44, 44’) or other mechanical fastening components. When subsequent underlayment sheets (10, 10’) are applied in overlapping courses, the adhesive sections (22, 22’) bond over the preceding underlayment sheet (10, 10’) to establish a water tight seal. The top surface (14) of the underlayment sheet (10) may include a supplemental bonding strip (30) which adheres directly to the adhesive section (22) of an overlying underlayment sheet (10) to establish a tenacious seal. The top surface (14’) may also be impregnated with a course granular material (52) to serve as a final, exposed surface for the roof in lieu of shingles or the like. If a future re-roofing operation is required, the subject underlayment system can be removed from the roof deck (36) without damaging or delaminating the roof deck (36) material.

The present invention relates to an insulating panel for a roof, essentially consisting of a rigid block (1) of insulating material. Insulating panel characterized in that it is self-supporting and in that it comprises at least one section (3) for absorbing forces, inserted into the insulating material in the longitudinal direction of the panel. The invention is more particularly applicable in the building field, in particular in roof construction elements.

TOIT EN PENTE COMPRENANT DES ORGANES D'ETANCHEITE 7 SITUES AU-DESSOUS DES RANGEES DE TUILES 1, ET AYANT POUR EFFET DE DRAINER TOUTE EAU S'INFILTRANT ENTRE LES TUILES ADJACENTES D'UNE RANGEE PARTICULIERE VERS LA SURFACE SUPERIEURE DES TUILES DE LA RANGEE SITUEE IMMEDIATEMENT AU-DESSOUS. CHAQUE ORGANE 7 PRESENTE UNE GOULOTTE TRANSVERSALE 8 QUI RECOIT LES CROCHETS DES TUILES ET QUI DEFINIT SUR LA FACE INFERIEURE DE CHAQUE ORGANE UNE BUTEE AGENCEE POUR S'ENGAGER SUR UN LATTIS DE SUPPORT 2 DE LA TOITURE. CES ORGANES D'ETANCHEITE 1 PERMETTENT LA POSE DE TUILES OU D'ARDOISES PLATES QUI NE S'EMBOITENT PAS LATERALEMENT, SANS AVOIR A SUPERPOSER LES TUILES DANS LEURS REGIONS CENTRALES. SLOPING ROOF INCLUDING SEALING COMPONENTS 7 LOCATED BELOW THE ROWS OF TILES 1, AND HAVING THE EFFECT OF DRAINING ANY WATER ENTERING BETWEEN THE ADJACENT TILES IN A PARTICULAR ROW TOWARDS THE UPPER SURFACE OF THE TILE ROWS IMMEDIATELY BELOW. EACH BODY 7 HAS A TRANSVERSAL CHUTE 8 WHICH RECEIVES THE TILE HOOKS AND WHICH DEFINES ON THE LOWER FACE OF EACH BODY A STOPPER AGENCY TO ENGAGE ON A SUPPORT LATTIS 2 OF THE ROOF. THESE WATERPROOFING COMPONENTS 1 ALLOW THE LAYING OF TILES OR FLAT SLATES WHICH DO NOT LATERAL INTERCHANGE, WITHOUT HAVE TO STACK THE TILES IN THEIR CENTRAL REGIONS.
