The outer layer is made of a second material that contains the engineering thermoplastic and a milled material to give the outer layer a metallic surface finish. A method is also disclosed for producing an injection molded component having a metallic surface finish such as the disclosed vehicle door handle apparatus.

A handle device comprising: a handle base portion on which an operation handle that operates opening/closing of a door of a vehicle can be mounted; a cable portion that can be fitted in the handle base portion; and a cable holding member configured to hold the cable portion, wherein the cable holding member includes an interference portion that interferes with the cable portion in a case in which the cable portion is not located at a fitting position, and does not interfere with the cable portion in a case in which the cable portion is located at the fitting position at a time of holding. 1. A handle device comprising:a handle base portion on which an operation handle that operates opening/closing of a door of a vehicle can be mounted;a cable portion that can be fitted in the handle base portion; anda cable holding member configured to hold the cable portion,wherein the cable holding member includes an interference portion that interferes with the cable portion in a case in which the cable portion is not located at a fitting position, and does not interfere with the cable portion in a case in which the cable portion is located at the fitting position at a time of holding.2. A door latch assembly includes a handle bezel, a rotatable handle coupled to the handle bezel, and a bezel cap. The handle bezel includes a main body portion and a rib extending from the main body portion. The rotatable handle includes a handle lever extending through the main body portion of the handle bezel, wherein the handle lever extends alongside the rib of the handle bezel. The bezel cap is positioned in a first position at an end of the rib so as to provide clearance for the handle lever of the rotatable handle to rotate thereby. The bezel cap is configured to move along the rib toward the main body portion of the handle bezel to interfere with a rotation of the handle lever during a side impact condition. 1. A door latch assembly comprising:a handle bezel comprising a main body portion and a rib extending from the main body portion;a rotatable handle coupled to the handle bezel comprising a handle lever extending through the main body portion of the handle bezel, wherein the handle lever extends alongside the rib of the handle bezel; anda bezel cap positioned in a first position at an end of the rib so as to provide clearance for the handle lever of the rotatable handle to rotate thereby, wherein the bezel cap is configured to move along the rib toward the main body portion of the handle bezel to interfere with a rotation of the handle lever during a side impact condition.2. The door latch assembly of claim 1 , wherein the rib of the handle bezel extends outward a distance beyond the handle lever of the rotatable handle.3. A method of deactivating a secondary lock feature of a vehicle includes sensing a movement of an interior door handle, and determining a status of the secondary lock feature to ascertain whether the secondary lock feature is active. The method includes starting a timer to measure an elapsed time since sensing the movement of the interior door handle, sensing an environmental condition of an interior passenger compartment of the vehicle with a sensor, and setting an unlock delay time based on the environmental condition. When the secondary lock feature is disposed in an active state and the elapsed time period is greater than or equal to the unlock delay time, the method includes automatically generating a control signal to thereby deactivate the secondary lock feature.
