WINDOW RESTRICTOR

A window restrictor that may be used to limit the opening of a window. The restrictor comprises a restrictor member and a latch mechanism. Typically, the restrictor member is attached to a stile or rail of the moving window pane and the latch mechanism is attached to a part of the casing or frame surrounding the window opening. In use, the restrictor member is engaged with the latch mechanism so that as the window is opened, the extent of opening is restricted by the restrictor member length. To fully open the window, the restrictor member is disengaged from the latch mechanism. When the restrictor member and latch mechanism are disengaged, they remain in such a configuration that, when the window is closed, the restrictor member and latch mechanism automatically re-engage to prevent the window being fully opened again. A lock mechanism includes a pedal, a vertical rod, a rod support, a hinge, a hinge support, a hinge lock, and magnets. When the pedal is pushed up the vertical rod, the hinge will lower into a cavity of the hinge lock and the lock mechanism will be in a “locked” mode. To “unlock” the lock mechanism, the user pushes the pedal down the vertical rod, then the hinge will raise out of the cavity of the hinge lock and now the lock mechanism will be in an “unlocked” mode. A security system for a building includes a plurality of lock modules. Each lock module is associated with a particular door and has an unlocked position and a locked position. Each lock module includes a lock bar, an actuator, and a controller. The lock bar has a first position that allows the particular door to open and a second position that extends from a door frame, a wall, or a floor surface adjacent to the particular door to prevent the particular door from opening. The actuator moves the lock bar between the first and second positions. A door locking assembly for locking a door from the inside includes a brace that has a pair of slots each integrated therein such that a respective one of the slots can be positioned on a neck of a doorknob. The brace is longitudinally elongated to extend between a door on which the doorknob is positioned and an adjacent door jamb. A pair of fingers is each coupled to and extends away from the brace. Each of the fingers extends along a line oriented perpendicular to the brace. A device for use by a commercial driver in securing the doors of the vehicle while in another part of the vehicle would be inserted inside of the vehicle door on each side. The device would consist of a telescoping bar with an internal spring that automatically collapses the bar when released. The adjustment arm would telescope out of the housing of the device and lock into place to extend the overall length, directly across the interior width of the vehicle. On each end, a flat, rigid paddle would slide in between the window and the inside door panel, while a pair of elongated rigid members would extend outward from the attachment point to rest against the door frame. A rigid, elongated bar extends horizontally across a doorway so as to physically prevent the door from opening. The elongated bar includes an L-shaped bracket on each end. Each bracket comprises a first section to be positioned flush against the wall on opposing sides of a doorway, and a second section to which an end of the elongated bar is secured. The security bar is mounted on the inside of shutters, doors, etc. and consists of two rectangular iron bars (4a, 4b) which are mounted in slide (7, 8, 9, 10) so that the length of the bar can be adjusted to that desired. The two extreme ends of the bars are cut of form tenons (5a, 5b) which are held in supports (6) attached to the fixed framework of the aperture. These supports have vertical slit which leads into a hole of dia. greater than the width of the tenon. To fit the security bar, it is held in a vertical position and the tenons are slid down the slits in the supports. The bar is then rotated into a horizontal position where the slides locate under staples (11) on the door leaves and thus secure the door.

Each spring (7a,8a) is located between two sections of cable and has non-contacting coils. A door security bar assembly includes inner and outer wall anchor plates at each side of the doorway, which sandwich the wall structure therebetween. The external plates preclude forcing the door to pull any inner attachment screws from the inner structure, as is possible with most prior door security bars. The present bar includes a combination hinge and pivot attachment at the hinge side of the doorway, allowing the bar to be pivoted parallel to the hinge line for storage when not deployed across the door. The bar also telescopes, with a spring urging the bar to a fully extended position to ensure engagement with the retaining fixture at the latch side of the door. A lock or hasp may be installed for further security, if desired. An additional door knob retainer may be provided optionally, for precluding knockout of the door knob or lock to access the latch.

An end of the bar and the plate together form a connector pair that couples the bar end to the plate in one of a separable orientation and an inseparable orientation according to a relative angle between the bar end and the plate. This arrangement defines a first belt run 26, which is connected to first shutter 14 by way of attachment means 30, and a second belt run 28 similarly connected to second shutter 16 by way of respective attachment means 32. In order to provide a compact arrangement the second arttachment means 32 includes a bracket member 34 having a generally hollow square cross section and located with the track 18. This permits the first belt run 26 to freely pass through the second attachment means. In this way movement of one shutter 14, 16 is transmitted to the other shutter without requiring a complicated or bulky connection.
