A fluid flows through at least one flow channel ( 11 ) on or in the piston ( 8 ) during a movement of the piston ( 8 ) inside the housing ( 2 ). A connecting element ( 4 ) having a seat ( 5 ) for coupling a drive element thereto is provided on the piston rod ( 3 ) on the end section projecting from the housing ( 2 ). The seat ( 5 ) has a cut-out section ( 18 ) on the face of the of the piston rod ( 3 ) accommodated therein, said cut-out section allowing the direct mechanical contact of a face ( 17 ) of the piston rod ( 3 ) and a drive element accommodated in the seat ( 5 ) so that there is a direct flux of force in the axial direction from the drive element accommodated in the seat towards the piston rod ( 3 ) when pressure is applied.

A consumer appliance with a soft open door mechanism includes a cabinet having top and a bottom and defining an opening along a front side. A door has a top and a bottom and is attached by a hinge to the front side of the cabinet. The hinge is at a bottom of the door so that the door is movable between an upright position closing the opening and a substantially horizontal position opening the opening. A spring is mounted in the cabinet so as to oppose movement of the door toward the horizontal position. A damping device is mounted within the cabinet activatable by an opening movement of the door toward the horizontal position to slow the door motion. The damping device is not active until the door has moved a distance from the upright position toward the horizontal position. Again, various options and modifications are possible.

An apparatus is provided for minimizing closing force of a door. The apparatus comprises a housing adapted to be disposed in the hinged edge of the door. A piston is slidably mounted in the bore. This product was invented when I saw a need to protect my daughter's fingers from being crushed when my toddler son slammed the dresser drawer close and she barely got them out in time. From my product research, there are many products to keep drawers closed, but there are not any to prevent accidents from happening when drawers are not locked or are already open.The general idea and purpose of this invention is to prevent someone from getting hurt if a drawer or door is unexpectedly closed on them. This product could be used on clothes drawers, doors in houses, doors in cars, and most openings where if someone had their hand on the object and it is accidentally closed with their hand still on said object, the invention would leave enough space so their fingers aren't harmed. Its purpose is to prevent accidents from happening and avoidable harm from occurring.There are essentially three components to the invention. A deadbolt cushioning system comprising:a deadbolt cushioning structure comprising a first housing and second housing with a biasing structure provided therebetween, the biasing structure comprising foam and/or a spring;wherein the deadbolt cushioning structure is attached to a door frame and is configured so that when a door with a fully extended deadbolt closes from a wide open position toward a closed position the extended deadbolt is to impact the deadbolt cushioning structure so that the extended deadbolt does not impact the door frame and does not reach a strike plate attached to the door frame;wherein a surface of the door frame to which the deadbolt cushioning structure is attached does not support the strike plate and is perpendicular to another surface of the door frame that supports the strike plate;wherein the second housing is slidable relative to the first housing, so that when the deadbolt impacts the deadbolt cushioning structure the biasing structure compresses and the second housing moves relative to the first structure and moves toward the face of the door frame to ...
