PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use inexpensive plastic parts when exhaust gas recirculation is employed by arranging a means capable of cooling a valve sleeve in a contact area between the valve sleeve and an air intake duct so as to correspond to the valve sleeve. SOLUTION: When an internal combustion engine is operated, a valve sleeve 34 is normally loaded by exhaust gas having the temperature of about 40 deg.C through a pipe. The hot exhaust gas gives a great part of its heat energy to the valve sleeve 34, and a greater part of heat is transmitted to a flange 50 through a contact surface 52. The flange 50 has a large radiating area, and the valve sleeve 34 can continuously take out heat from the exhaust gas. Means dissipate the heat relative to the plastic casing; these means consist of at least two flow surfaces extending transversely to the direction of flow of the cold fluid stream. A second sealing ring (26) can be placed on the second outer surface (6) of the second section (9), and the second section (9) and second sealing ring (26) can likewise be introduced into the recess (10) such that the unit (1) is mounted in the recess (10) by means of the two sealing rings (25, 26), without the first and second outer surfaces (6, 7) of the unit (1) abutting inner surfaces (11, 12) of the recess (10). The embedded wall (20) comprises a sleeve-like attachment (36) into which the recess (10) extends and which is divided into a plurality of flexible annular snap-action elements (40) for holding the unit (1), into which elements the second sealing ring (26) can snap when the unit (1) is introduced into the recess (10).
