Устройство содержит вакуумный котел (ВК) 2, верхняя часть которого соединена с внутренней полостью насоса (Н) 1, а нижняя через клапан (К) 5 - с резервуаром (Р) 4 откачиваемой жидкости. К 5 состоит из размещенного в корпусе с входным и выходным патрубками рабочего органа (РО). В РО выполнены основные и дроссельные каналы (ОК и ДК). При откачке воздуха из ВК 2 РО занимает положение, ближнее к выходному патрубку ВК 2 соединяется с Р 4 через ДК. Поступление жидкости в ВК 2 ограничивается и в первую очередь заливается Н 1. После заливки Н 1 и прекращения откачки воздуха РО занимает в корпусе положение, ближнее к входному патрубку ВК 2 сообщается с Р 4 через ОК. В этом режиме гидравлическое сопротивление К 5 мало и он не препятствует сливу жидкости из ВК 2 в Р 4. За счет этого поддерживается вакуум в ВК 2 и внутренних полостях Н 1. 2 ил.

При этом Ч 8 соединена с конденсатосборником (К) 2, а Ч 9 через конденсатор 10 - с выходом контура 4 охлаждения и с магистралью 6 сдува на очистку. Нижняя часть К 2 сообщена с входом Н 1 через вентиль 12. При работе Н 1 на контур 4 выходящий пар ожижается в конденсаторе 10 и стекает в РЕ 3. Неконденсируемые газы скапливаются в Ч 9 и либо непрерывно, либо периодически удаляются по магистрали 6. При этом в Ч 8 газовая фракция не содержит неконденсируемых составляющих. On the suction side of its pump housing a pump is provided with a gas separator optionally built integrally with the pump housing. The gas separator comprises a cyclone chamber with an inlet channel for a gas or air-containing pump medium, and a liquid outlet channel connected to the inlet of the pump. A bleed housing is provided at the upper end of the cyclone chamber, said bleed housing comprising an air duct. The air duct is substantially Z-shaped and of a cross section deviating from circular shape. The air duct comprises furthermore a relatively wide groove over at least a portion of its length and at its upper wall. The groove extends from adjacent the inlet of the air duct and forwards into said duct. In this manner a separation of gas or air from the gas or air-containing pump medium is obtained which is more reliable than the previously known separation.

To remove the pump from the fuel tank 2, screws 7 are first turned to lower an annular valve 6 into a position in which it closes the annular inlet 3 of the pump. Even if gas stays in the gap, the centrifugal pump constructed in this way can discharge the gas through the communication hole. The centrifugal pump has sufficient pump performance and can be reliably started without becoming inoperable in starting operation.

The advantage is obtained of providing fluid recirculation in the volute (7) and a negative pressure in the inlet during the self-priming step, substantially with no additional volumetric loss.

In the centrifugal pump shown, the firststage impeller 1 is of a low-head self-priming type and discharges by way of guide vanes 5a to a chamber 7 in which entrained air separates from the liquid. The separated air is discharged to atmosphere by way of a passage 8 and a vent 17, a filter (not shown) preventing clogging of the vent by dust or sand. The liquid passes by way of passages 9, 10 and 11 to the inlet 12 of the second-stage impeller 2 (which is of normal type), a weir 14 between the passage 11 and inlet 12 trapping sufficient liquid to prime the second stage. A sealing impeller 15 prevents the initial charge of priming liquid being removed from the passage 11 by the impeller 2. There may be more than two stages, and the stages are not necessarily on a common shaft or within a common casing. The second-stage inlet 12 may be located adjacent the casing wall, i.e. towards the coupling 20. The vent 17 may then be replaced by a slit in the position 23, between the shaft and the adjacent surface of the casing wall.

A pump assembly having a pump with an inlet duct (10) and an outlet duct, the inlet duct including an air separation chamber (11), which is communicable with a vent of an ejector head (21) in which is provided a venturi (25a) to suck air from the air separation chamber and eject it to atmosphere, the ejector head also having a valve member (38) for controlling communication of the vent to atmosphere. A valve member (37) controls communication between the air separation chamber (11) and the ejector head (21), and the valve members (37,38) are carried on a common shaft (39) of a float valve assembly which also includes a float (36) carried by said shaft in the air separation chamber, the valve assembly operating so that air in the air separation chamber is sucked into said ejector head and ejected to atmosphere to prime or re-prime the pump, whilst liquid in the air separation chamber is prevented from entering the ejector head.

An arrangement of pipes and valves connects a centrifugal pump (6) between a low level milk storage tank (R) with a container (C) at a higher level, to be filled. To prime the pump, milk is allowed to flow through a bottom discharge line (10) from the upper tank when a valve (11) is opened. It enters the pump through an upper branch (18) and bypasses the pump through a lower branch (12) and reaches a flap valve (7) below the pump. The pump starts and lifts the flap, and milk can pass through the main line (1), through the upper branch (18) and upwards to the top of the container. Between the two branches (18, 12) is a spring loaded plunger valve (17) which permits the above operations, operated automatically by the milk flow.

The appliance is suitable for heating systems with a pump housing, consisting of two facing half cups. The cups form an internal chamber, accommodating a pump impeller. The housing (21) of the dirt collector-degaser has a circular flange (22), which engages directly on the frame of the motor (3). The flange is so dimensioned, that it surrounds the two half cups (10.15) and maintains them in their position on the frame of the motor. The end of the flange carries a spigot which engages sealing in a circular groove (32) of the connecting plate of the motor, via an intermediate sealing ring. The internal profile of the flange has an upper contact edge engaging on the edge (12) of the first half cup (10).

The pump consists of a turbine rotating within a housing of which the centre is pierced by a liq. inlet, the outlet being at the bottom. The air separating appts. comprises a chamber separated into two compartments by a wall extending upwards from the bottom of the chamber, the two compartments communicating with each other at the top of the chamber. The liq. with air in it, enters through an inlet in the first compartment and the air-free liq. leaves the second compartment through an outlet in the second compartment which is made to coincide with the inlet to the pump housing. The appts. may be used in conjunction with a pump in a heating circuit or other situations where air trapped in the system would cause irregularities of flow and reduction of pump efficiency. Using the appts. the air is extracted efficiently from the liq. and is evacuated rapidly and continuously.

Application to liquid pumps in order to accelerate the automatic priming thereof.
