The present disclosure relates to sealing the propeller shaft of a ship using a sealing having a group of lip seals arranged consecutively in a direction of the propeller shaft so that a seal chamber is created between adjacent lip seals. A seal protection mechanism for a shaft seal of a land-based vehicle is described. The seal protection mechanism comprises a fixed part and a rotary part. The fixed part is fixed relative to the vehicle. The rotary part is rotatable relative to the fixed part about an axis. The rotary part is configured to rotate with a shaft about which the shaft seal is disposed. One of the fixed part and the rotary part comprises an axial opening. The other of the fixed part and the rotary part is at least partly received in the axial opening. The fixed part and the rotary part define a passageway. At least one of the fixed part and the rotary part comprises a debris breaking portion. The debris breaking portion is disposed in the passageway. In use, rotation of the rotary part relative to the fixed part causes the debris breaking portion to break apart any debris passing through said passageway towards the shaft seal. The seal protection mechanism therefore acts to protect the shaft seal by breaking apart debris before said debris can reach the shaft seal. A dual function coating on a counterface of a seal. The dual function provides having a low friction and being hydrophobic. This is achieved by chemically modifying a low friction coating. Gaps are included, primarily on the exterior side of a seal, one side being coated with the modified low friction coating on a counterface and the other side with a hydrophobic or omniphobic material on a seal body. The material can be in the form of a coating, film, strip, or ring depending on application, and be coated, glued, fused, mechanically attached or by any other suitable method, attached to the seal body. The gap should preferably be in the order of 0.2 to 1 mm wide, thus creating ‘reverse-capillary’ function where water cannot pass all the way through the gap. 1. A seal assembly comprising:a seal body having at least one seal lip;a counterface; whereinthe at least one seal lip is in contact with the counterface covering a contact area on the counterface, and whereinthe counterface is coated with a chemically modified low friction coating, the chemical modification making the coating hydrophobic, and in that the coating of the counterface, when in use, extend on both sides of the contact area, thereby creating a hydrophobic barrier close to the at least one seal lip.2. A seal arrangement comprising:a seal comprising an outer ring, a shoe, and an arm extending between the shoe and the outer ring, wherein the shoe moves relative to the outer ring via the arm;a seal ring adjacent the seal; anda support plate disposed between the seal and the seal ring, wherein the support plate is configured to move together with the shoe in a radial direction relative to the seal ring.2. The seal arrangement of claim 1 , wherein the seal claim 1 , the seal ring claim 1 , and the support plate are coaxial.3. The seal arrangement of claim 2 , wherein the outer ring is in contact with the seal ring claim 2 , the arm is spaced apart from the seal ring claim 2 , and the shoe is spaced apart from the seal ring.4.
