The pilot flow path leads through a control chamber which is in permanent flow connection with the high-pressure side via a control opening. The pressure existing in the control chamber acts on the switching element. The pilot stage includes a coil and a pilot valve element movable by a magnetic field of the coil, which are arranged at the switching element and are moved with the same.

The valve is fitted to water hydrants and has the fluid inlet and fluid outlet on different axes. The fluid inlet is through a hole (4) in the bottom of the valve and the fluid outflow is radial, through holes (6) in the periphery of the valve. A membrane (12) positioned across the inlet hole can block the fluid inlet (4). The membrane divides the interior of the solenoid valve into two chambers (11) and (5). When the solenoid (9) is in the higher position the upper chamber is emptied and the membrane rises. In the lower position water cannot pass to the upper chamber and the membrane blocks the water inlet hole (4).
