The surfaces that stop the opening of the two elements of each hinge are rough, the surface that stops the opening of one of the elements, of the surface, and of the arm having a hollow intermediate area. A low inventory method of making eyeglasses. Two lens elements having special complementary surfaces are provided. These lens elements can be positioned relative to each other to provide wide ranges of focus correction and astigmatism correction. Various preferred embodiments of the invention are described. In one embodiment the required inventory is only identical sets of two complementary lenses for providing correction for almost all needed eye correction for a typical population. In this embodiment, the lens units are first adjusted relative to each other to provide a desired focusing power. Astigmatism may be corrected by a small adjustment in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction followed by a rotation of the two lenses about the axis of the two lenses. When the adjustments have been made the two lenses are fixed with respect to each other and installed in eyeglass frames. Cutting to the shape of the eyeglass frames can occur either before or after the fixing.

Masks with an aperture can improve the vision of a patient, such as by increasing the depth of focus of an eye of a patient. For example, a mask can have an annular portion with a relatively low visible light transmission surrounding a relatively high transmission central portion, such as a clear lens or aperture. This provides an annular mask with a small aperture for light to pass through to the retina to increase depth of focus. The mask may also include nutrient transport structures that provide nutrient flow through mask to prevent nutrient depletion. These nutrient transport structures can be configured to concentrate nutrient transmission near a center region of the mask to provide more nutrient flow near the center region.

A method and apparatus for increasing the depth of focus of the human eye is comprised of a lens body, an optic in the lens body configured to produce light interference, and a pinhole-like optical aperture substantially in the center of the optic. The apparatus is housed within a hand-held power tool that includes a power circuit. The apparatus includes an electrical isolation device configured to prevent current flow in at least one conductor included in the power circuit; a wireless communication device configured to wirelessly couple to a wireless communication device included in the personal protective equipment. The wireless communication device is configured to receive a wireless signal transmitted from the wireless communication device included the personal protective equipment, the wireless signal providing information concerning whether the user is wearing the item of personal protective equipment properly. The electrical isolation device operates to allow current flow in the at least one conductor when the information provided by the wireless signal indicates that the item of personal protective equipment is being worn properly by the user. 1. An eyeglass system including primary glasses and detachably engageable auxiliary glasses. The auxiliary glasses include a first and second auxiliary lens connected together by a bridge. Each lens has an exterior surface, an interior surface, and a peripheral edge extending between the interior and exterior surfaces. An aperture is defined in each of the lenses and this aperture extends between the interior and exterior surfaces, and originates in the peripheral edge and extends for a distance into the lens. A connector is engaged in the aperture in each of the lenses and this connector detachably engages the primary glasses. Preferably, the aperture is keyhole-shaped and the connector includes a boss that is a complementary keyhole shape. A rearview mirror that is attached to the front surface; left or right side, of any type of eyewear where rear viewing is needed, but especially designed with sportswear in mind. This design is unique because of how and it is attached; to the surface of the eyewear by so-called socketed suction cup; truly held on by atmospheric pressure. The cup being about ¼″ inch in diameter can hold on with about 4 lbs of force with a gentle touch because it is made of pliable rubber. The interior of the suction cup has a ball socket housing; both socket and suction cup is all one piece. The stem and ball, is a part of the plastic housing, which encases the mirror, which is all one piece, with smooth rounded edges for safety. The plastic housing exterior acts as an airfoil plate, designed and shaped in such a way to give way to the wind, and cause less turbulence. The ball and socket allows the mirror to swivel in all directions from 0-45 degrees of adjustment in angle, which is adjusted by hand. The mirror can be placed laterally across the eyewear lens also for adjustment without obscuring the frontal view. Facing straight ahead with a slight glance of the eye to the left (right if placed on the right side) as you would do when driving an automobile, you will get 40 to 70 degree rearward view while looking straight ahead; approximately ⅞ by 1½ inch wide mirror. Clip-on sunglasses for plastic eyeglass frames are shaped more like a bracket, with a nearly 90° bend to accommodate the thickness of plastic eyeglass frames. The ends of the bracket also angle for 45° towards each other to avoid hitting the nose piece of the plastic eyeglass frame. In the clip-on sunglasses, a latch controls two arms to rotate the arms up to a 45° angle with respect to a pair of plastic eyeglass frames.
