It consists of a light source part, a film stand, a lens part, a shutter, an exposure stand, a photo paper conveying part, a photo paper cutting part, a photo paper magazine, and the like. A feature of the present invention is that the photo paper is first cut at the photo paper cutting unit and transferred to the exposure sheet as a sheet, and the exposure table rotates during the exposure process and can change angles. The present invention is versatile, capable of working in a bright room (bright room), displaying print data in real time, reasonable structure, high level of automation, low cost, and convenient operation. A printer processor (11a,11e), a film processor (11b,11f), and a densitometer (11c) are connected to a personal computer (13) via a port controller (12). For diagnosing the operation condition of a photographic equipment, a check sample is formed by the photographic equipment. The check sample is set to the densitometer to fetch the measured density data into the personal computer (13). If the operation condition of the photographic equipment is abnormal, the personal computer fetches the operation data under management in the photographic equipment to determine a countermeasure against the abnormal state. The countermeasure is transferred to the photographic equipment to automatically adjust the adjust failure element. In order to remotely control a plurality of lab shops, each lab shop is provided with a sub-computer connected to the photographic equipment. The headquarters are provided with a main computer (191) storing therein a management program. The main computer (191) fetches the data of the sub-computer via a communication line. In accordance with the fetched data, the headquarters (190) remotely control the quality, production state, and stock state of consumable goods at each lab shop (180,182). The port controller (12) finds an idle time of a CPU at each lab shop, and fetches the data from the photographic equipment during the idle time.

FILM LENGTH CHECKING APPARATUS Abstract In some types of processing apparatus, there is a minimum length of film strip which can be processed. To overcome this problem, several film strips may be spliced together to provide the desired length and/or a leader attached to the leading edge of the film strip to guide it through the apparatus for processing. Described herein is a loading device (10) for photographic processing apparatus which allows a length of film (102) to be unloaded from its cassette (100) in a film unloading station, its length checked at a film length checking station (18), and passed to a storage station (16) prior to being directed to the processing apparatus. Any length of film not exceeding the minimum length requirement for the processing apparatus can be removed from the storage station thereby avoiding film jams because the film is too short to pass from one transport station to another in the processing apparatus.

A web-handling system for use in the processing of photographic print paper during the developing process includes a plurality of rollers mounted in a developing tank, at least some of the rollers being movable to vary the length of the paper path through the tank. The paper path length is continuously monitored and the input and output speed of drive rollers that move the paper into and out of the tank is controlled so that the path length is of the proper value to maintain the paper within the tank for a predetermiend time regardless of the rate of input of paper to the tank. The movable rollers are mounted on a carriage that is supported by the paper web when the handling system is in dynamic operation. A monitoring sensor is positioned near the input to the tank to monitor the transverse position of the paper web with respect to the paper path defined by the rollers and a roller adjustment device is controlled by the sensor to adjust the web position to maintain alignment of the web with the paper path.

The control strip is automatically drawn out from the holder, held onto the exposure table by air-suction and transferred to the developing unit. The control strip is drawn out by the holding force of the exposure table. As a structure for concentrating the holding force on the driving of the control strip, a mask plate is provided on the control strip holder to cover almost all the holding zone of the exposure table. The leading end of the control strip remaining outside the control strip holder is held on the exposure table by a force which is stronger than that exerted on normal paper. Thus, the control strip is transferred to the developing unit through the outlet by the paper conveying belt of the exposure table.

The period of the respective processing is strongly dependent on the course of the temperature, which is affected by the vessel, the liquid and the surroundings. An apparatus which is simple and convenient to operate is achieved if a temperature sensor is fitted in the vessel interior at a place corresponding to the position of the inserted photo material, and has an electrical evaluator connected to it, provided in an external space of the vessel. The evaluator integrates over time the course of the temperature at the sensor, compares this integral with a predetermined value dependent on the photo material, and emits a signal when this value is reached.

[Also in Division G1] A timer for photographic printing exposure times comprises a capacitor charged by a photodiode illuminated by a pilot lamp and a switching unit operated at a predetermined capacitor potential to terminate exposure. A capacitor appropriate to the emulsion sensitivity is selected from capacitors 21 by switches 21a ... 21d. Exposure is initiated by a pushbutton 11 which closes contact 2 to open the shutter and opens contact 5 to allow photo-diode 20 to charge the selected capacitor. The charging current is determined by the brightness of lamp 23 connected to the same supply as the printing lamp which is governed by resistors 25 which are selected in accordance with the gamma to which the emulsion is to be subjected on development and a calibrating resistor 26. This brightness is further modified by a diaphragm 24 adjusted in accordance with the density of the original. The switching unit 12 is of a type in which current between electrodes 13 and 15 is interrupted when the potential on an electrode 14 relative to electrode 13 rises above a threshold value. The potential on electrode 13 is determined by a resistor 17 selected in accordance with filter factors and a resistor set in accordance with the degree of enlargement employed. When conduction between electrodes 13 and 15 is interrupted, relay 10 drops out, opening contact 2 to close the shutter. In a similar ancilliary apparatus for determining development times resistor 18 and shutter 24 are omitted and a fixed capacitor is used in place of capacitors 21. The resistors 25 are selected in accordance with the type of emulsion in use and resistors 17 in accordance with the development gamma. The ancilliary apparatus may be included in the same unit as the timer of the invention, components being used in common.

The control strip is drawn out by the holding force of the exposure table. As a structure for concentrating the holding force on the driving of the control strip, a mask plate is provided on the control strip holder to cover almost all the holding zone of the exposure table. The leading end of the control strip remaining outside the control strip holder is held on the exposure table by a force which is stronger than exerted on normal paper. Thus, the control strip is transferred to the developing unit through the outlet by the paper conveying belt of the exposure table.

If a film is either over- or underexposed, it may be incorrectly processed producing unsatisfactory results. The present invention utilises an arrangement which measures changes in the infrared density of the film during processing to ensure that satisfactory results are produced. The arrangement comprises an infrared light emitting diode (22) and an infrared sensitive photodiode detector (26) which are both mounted in a support (20). Film (34) passes between the diode (22) and the detector (26) so that the amount of infrared radiation being transmitted through the film can be determined to provide a measure of the infrared density of the film at each stage during its processing.
