An echo signal irradiated from an ultrasonic scanner and reflected back from a subject under examination is amplified by a logarithm amplifier and is amplitude-detected by a detector. An adder adds to the detected echo signal an STC voltage, a gain control voltage and a gain control feedback voltage. The gain-controlled echo signal from the adder is input to a multiplier and multiplied by a dynamic control voltage and a negative feedback gain control voltage. A multi-layered identity card is equipped with an IC chip (5). The chip is arranged on a carrier element (7, 9) which is located in a hollow space (30) of the multi-layered identity card. The card layers (19, 20) adjoining the hollow space carry support layers (21, 22) which are thermally stable in the range of the hot laminating temperatures. This prevents the hollow space being filled with card material during the hot laminating process in which the card layers soften and finally become liquid. Hot laminated identity cards incorporating integrated circuit module

An integrated circuit module is incorporated into an identity card of laminated construction as an insert into a window cut in one layer and complemented by coatings on adjacent layers to stabilise the shape of the layers during a hot lamination process. Combines the extra information or security possible using an integrated circuit component with the high quality finish, dimensional reproducibility and cohesive strength of a hot press laminated structure. Allows the circuit component to be included during card fabrication, instead of making a subsequent modification by incision.
