A tungsten-rhenium filament is disclosed. The filament has a re-crystallization temperature above 2000 ° C., and it comprises an aluminum-potassium-silicon (AKS) additive. The potassium content of the filament is between 80-110 ppm, and the rhenium content is between 0.05-0.19 % by weight. A method for manufacturing a rhenium-tungsten filament is also disclosed. The method comprises the following steps. An AKS doped tungsten-rhenium alloy powder is prepared with a rhenium content of 0.05-0.19 % by weight, and a potassium content between 80-110 ppm. The alloy powder is pressed and presintered, and thereafter sintered with direct current. A rhenium-tungsten filament is formed which has a metastable crystal structure. The filament is wound on a mandrel, and it is annealed on the mandrel below the re-crystallization temperature. The filament is finally re-crystallized above the re-crystallization temperature. A halogen incandescent lamp with an envelope enclosing a tungsten-rhenium filament is also provided.

[Class 39 (i)] In an anode assembly for gas or vapour hightension current rectifiers, of the kind comprising a stem or rod 3 carrying the anode 4 and secured to the top of a hollow insulator 2 mounted on the outside of the metallic rectifier casing 1, a series of overlapping cylindrical shields 7 of increasing diameter downwardly from shield to shield is provided, the radial distances between the shields and the amounts of their overlap being so selected that charge carriers do not pass between them to the insulator, and a field having an approximately uniform voltage drop over the insulator is formed. As shown, the insulator is of conical form and provided with internal flanges to which the shields are secured. The lowermost shield is secured to an arc-guiding sleeve 8 surrounding the anode. Preferably heating means for preventing condensation is arranged either on the outside of the insulator, or is provided by so dimensioning The stem 3 that the power losses in it produce the desired heating.

Plasma formation is created by means of a high-voltage corona avalanche streamer discharge, and the probing radiation of the radar station is intercepted and directed to the plasma formation zone by means of an adjustable waveguide in the engine with a variable cross-section decreasing from the amount providing a cover from the radiation of the engine element contributing greatly to the reflected radiation power of the radar station to the value equal to the cross section of the plasma formation zone, the waveguide walls are made of a conductive mesh, providing a gas flow passage. Furthermore, advantageously, the inner leads are made of a material of which the main component is molybdenum, and the diameter of the inner leads is at least 0.48 mm.
