It is important that the power dissipation in the subscriber line interface circuits, SLICs is reduced. Power dissipation occurs when the subscriber lines are fed with a voltage level that is higher than necessary. The front end filters DC and AC current on a telephone line to separate these signals and passes a DC current through a low resistance Low Pass Filter without traditional resistance or current limiting means. The front end also provides signaling capability isolated from the DC and audio channels by a High Pass Filter. Some embodiments also include a “back end” unit located near a local telephone location. The “back end” unit filters the DC and AC currents into at least two DC current streams. One of the DC current streams provides sufficient current to power a local telephone. The other stream(s) provides current sufficient to power an auxiliary device. The “back end” device may also provide signaling isolated from the DC and audio channels that is complementary to the “front end” signaling.

Power is supplied to telecom equipment in DSLAM outdoor/remote cabinets with relatively short distances between the subscriber and the cabinet. All of the subscriber Customer Premises Equipment connected to the DSLAM each provide a portion of the required power to the remote cabinet via the telephone line connecting the DSLAM and the subscriber CPE. The CPE at the subscriber premises is already connected to power mains in the subscriber premises so, providing power, via the telephone line to the outdoor cabinet is relatively simple. An apparatus for wirelessly charging a cellular telephone , the apparatus comprising:a housing for receiving a portion of the cellular telephone; anda charging panel comprising a transmitter coil configured to wirelessly charge the cellular telephone;wherein the charging panel is movably mounted to the housing between a non-charging position and a charging position in response to the cellular telephone being inserted in the housing, and wherein the charging panel automatically aligns the cellular telephone for charging in the charging position.2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the charging panel extends from the housing when the charging panel is in the charging position.3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the charging panel is partially or completely retracted into the housing when the charging panel is in the non-charging position claim 1 , or wherein the charging panel extends transversely across an end of the housing when the charging panel is in the non-charging position.4. The front end filters DC and AC current on a telephone line to separate these signals and passes a DC current through a low resistance Low Pass Filter without traditional resistance or current limiting means. The front end also provides signaling capability isolated from the DC and audio channels by a High Pass Filter. Some embodiments also include a “back end” unit located near a local telephone location. The “back end” unit filters the DC and AC currents into at least two DC current streams. In the present simple electronic switching device, if any extension subscriber requests the setting of the power saving mode, the display unit transmits a command to stop the display means of the extension telephone, and subsequently blocks the call to the extension telephone and permits only data communication. A retrofit battery cabinet for telecommunications equipment. A 48 volt DC or other battery power supply is held in a retrofit battery cabinet to provide a retrofittable battery power supply to telecommunications cabinets. Dual and separately operable battery trays provide a weight-bearing capacity of more than 500 pounds each. The battery trays extend through an open front end of a housing be sealed by a removable door. The weight load exerted by the retrofit battery cabinet is supported by the concrete or other pad providing ultimate support to the entire configured assembly, and not by the associated telecommunications equipment cabinet. Outriggers, mounting brackets, and nesting of the housing beneath the telecommunications cabinet serve to secure the retrofit battery cabinet in place, ensuring the electrical connection between the batteries and the telecommunications equipment without direct attachment of the retrofit battery cabinet to the telecommunications cabinet support columns. Exhaust fans shrouded by the outriggers ventilate hydrogen gas and provide a more controlled thermal environment for the batteries. The removable door may have a full-length front vent at its base or, alternatively, a duct may connect the retrofit battery cabinet to a subterranean or other thermal reservoir for constant-temperature air flow. A thermostat, timer or timers, alarm reset, battery connections, fuses, breakers, and the like may be held and made easily and readily available at a central console. An intrusion alarm may alert a central monitoring station or control of removal of the front door panel.

Resistors of the same value are inserted in the collector current path of the symmetrical amplifier transistors to limit the current in the subscriber line, while means are provided for slaving the base voltage to the collector voltage of these transistors so that a voltage determined in the direction of normal operation exists between these two electrodes; finally between the two input terminals of the symmetrical amplifier is connected a decoupling capacitor with respect to conversation currents in the subscriber line. The unit, is connected to a symmetrical line (4) which has two current sources (1, 2) connected to the line (4). the two sources of current (1, 2) can be switched to allow transmission of the signal to the terminal.
