The hi-fi loudspeaker box produces omni-directional characteristics resembling those of the original sounds by direct conversion using loudspeakers for the three directions. The loudspeakers occupy the front, rear, sides and top of the loudspeaker box and are connected by active or passive coupling networks. Each face may therefore contain one or more loudspeakers arranged in line or otherwise grouped. Two such loudspeaker boxes can be used to produce stereophonic sound. The advantage of the loudspeaker box lies in its direct sound reproduction. In one embodiment the base frequency response speaker (6) is installed at the front of the box and connected to a frequency divide path.

According to one aspect of the present invention, a mechanism is provided to allow a user to group some of the players according to a theme or scene, where each of the players is located in a zone. When the scene is activated, the players in the scene react in a synchronized manner. For example, the players in the scene are all caused to play a multimedia source or music in a playlist, wherein the multimedia source may be located anywhere on a network. 1. In a network comprising a plurality of zone players , a method comprising:maintaining, by a first zone player, a zone configuration, the zone configuration characterizing one or more zone scenes created by a user, each zone scene comprising at least one zone group, each zone group including at least one of the plurality of zone players, and each zone player in the zone group configured to synchronously playback multimedia content from a multimedia source with another zone player in the zone group;transmitting, by the first zone player via a network interface, the zone configuration to a controller device;receiving, by the first zone player via the network interface, an updated zone configuration from the controller device;storing, by the first zone player, the updated zone configuration; andbased on the updated zone configuration, causing, by the first zone player, the plurality of players in the network to playback multimedia content in accordance with the updated configuration.2. Embodiments of the invention utilize one or more vibration elements to enhance the audio output of a computing device. These vibration element(s) may comprise any conventional vibrating element including a mass element (i.e., counterweight) electrically driven via an actuator to produce the vibrations. The size of the mass element/counterweight may be selected based on the desired strength and frequency for the vibration components (i.e., lower frequencies may utilized larger/heavier mechanisms). Computing devices may process audio data and separately output some of the data for speakers (higher frequency data), and some of the data for vibration elements (lower frequency data). The surface where the device is placed creates a sounding board structure and the vibration elements generate the sensation of physical motion at low, sub-bass and sub-audio frequencies. This physical motion may be perceived by the user as low-frequency audio data, thereby enhancing the audio output of the speakers.

A speaker is disclosed that can be positioned as either a right or left front surround or a right or left rear surround in any surround sound system. The speaker includes a housing including a first driver, a second driver, a third driver, and a fourth driver. A high pass filter is connected with the first and third drivers and the first and third drivers are wired having opposite polarities from one another such that the first driver is out of phase with the third driver by 180 degrees. A low pass filter is connected with a lattice filter, wherein the low pass filter is configured to shift a phase of an input signal −90 degrees and the lattice filter is configured to shift the phase by adding +45 degrees thereby forming a −45 degree phase shift. A speaker assembly broadly comprising a housing, an input circuit, and a number of speakers. The housing includes a lower section configured to be positioned at least partially below a ground surface and an upper section extending upwards from the lower section. The input circuit receives audio signals from a sound system or other controller and actively or passively sends the audio signals to the speakers. The speakers include a low-range speaker positioned in the lower section of the housing and a relatively higher-range speaker positioned in the upper section. The speaker assembly is configured to be spaced from other speaker assemblies within a listening area with each speaker assembly generating low frequency soundwaves and relatively higher-frequency soundwaves. The system includes plurality of drivers not uniformly arranged so that the relative velocity of the speaker follows the Legendre shading function. By making the driver density proportional to the Legendre function SSCBT allows each driver to play at max volume. The purpose behind Space Shaded Constant Beamwidth Transducer (SSCBT) is to replace attenuation with incremental spacing between the drivers.
