A cabinet-type domestic appliance, such as a refrigerator, cooker, or washing-machine, as provided with a recess into which fits carrier means for a note-pad, book of instructions &c., the carrier means when inserted into the recess being completely concealed except for a projection which indicates the location of the carrier and provides a handle for its withdrawal. As shown, the rear portion of a refrigerator top 10 has a facia panel 12 provided with a recess opening from its flat upper face to receive a note-pad carrier 13. The carrier comprises a flat plate to which a note-pad can be clamped, an end lip to locate the pad, and a terminal part 17 adapted to serve as a suspension and handle means, and to indicate the presence of the carrier. In a modification, the recess for the carrier 13 is formed in the front lip of the top 10, the carrier fitting into the recess like a drawer.
