[Also in Division H3] An electric fence is energized from a battery B which is charged during the hours of daylight by a solar generator SG the requisite pulses being generated by a transistor oscillator and fed to the fence by way of an induction coil L 1 . A diode R prevents current flow from the battery B to the solar generator SG. The oscillator comprises transistors TR 1 -TR 3 and a capacitor C 1 which-when the oscillator is switched onis charged by way of resistors R1, R3, R4. Whilst the capacitor C1 is charging transistors TR 1 , TR 2 are cut off. When the capacitor C 1 has acquired a predetermined charge transistors TRI, TR 2 conduct and the capacitor discharges by way of the basecollector circuits of the transistors. Transistor TR 3 then-becomes conductive to energize the induction coil L 1 , the cycle being repeated when the capacitor C 1 has become discharged.
