Motor fuel compositions
Реферат: A motor fuel composition comprises gasoline having blended with it 1,0-6,4 grams of lead per U.S. gallon of an anti-knock agent consisting of a single ethyl-methyl lead compound or a mixture of tetraethyllead and tetramethyllead or a mixture of two or more alkyllead compounds in which at least one contains both methyl and ethyl groups, said antiknock agent containing from 25 to 75% of methyl groups with the balance being ethyl groups and said motor fuel containing from 13 to 55 volume per cent aromatic gasoline components, from 1 to 42 volume per cent olefinic gasoline components and from 27 to 83 volume per cent saturated gasoline components, and having a research octane number clear-i.e. in the absence of any antiknock additive-of at least 81 and a nominal octane value of at least 95. Nominal octane value is defined as the octane value of the gasoline when it contains 3 millilitres per U.S. gallon of tetraethyl lead and is rated for octane quality by the standard ASTM Research Method. The gasoline base stocks used may have initial boiling points ranging from about 70 DEG to about 120 DEG F. and final boiling points ranging from about 370 DEG to 420 DEG F. The compositions may also contain organic halide scavengers.
