Class 40(3) In a colour television projection system inwhich component colour images produced by picture reproducing devices 9 (Blue), 10 (Red), 11 (Green) are optically combined and projected on to a viewing screen 8 the optical combination is effected by means of a dichroic element 18 and a partially reflecting and partially transmitting element 19 (Figs. 1 and 2) each of which is mounted to be adjustable about both the horizontal axis 22, 23 (see Fig. 3), and the vertical axis, pivot 27, and when the adjustment which produces precise registration of the component images on the screen 8 has been found, to be locked in position by means of clamping nuts 26 and 30. Since element 19 is only partially reflecting and partially transmitting the excess of light intensity of the Blue (9) and Green (11) devices over that of the Red (10) device is corrected. The devices 9, 10, 11 are carried by a framework 1 which also carries the E.H.T. and heater voltage supplies 13 for cathode-ray tubes and valves in the devices the latter supply being provided by transformers having negligible external fields. Other supplies and controls are contained in a remote console 38 connected over cables 37. The screen 8 which is in the form of part of a horizontal cylinder may have vertical lenticulations.
