Реферат: 1392923 Coated silicates ENGLISH CLAYS LOVERING POCHIN & CO Ltd 16 June 1972 [25 Sept 1970] 45911/70 Heading C1A [Also in Division C3] A silicate mineral having a layer lattice structure is treated by (i) forming a suspension of fine particles of the mineral in water; (ii) admixing the suspension with a polymer which is water-soluble or water-dispersible and which is such that, on drying the suspension, the particles of mineral adhere to the polymer and to one another and the polymer is irreversibly rendered insoluble and non-dispersible in water; and (iii) dewatering and drying the suspension. preferred polymers are latexes of poly(vinyl acetate), poly(vinyl alcohol), polyacrylate, styreneacrylic acid copolymer and styrene-butadiene rubber and epoxy resins, phenol-formaldehyde resins and melamine-formaldehyde resin. Preferred minerals are kaolinitic clay of particle size <5 microns and talc. A papercoating composition consisting of the treated mineral, an adhesive and an aqueous medium is claimed.
