[Class 39 (i)] In an electrostatic precipitator, a collector cell comprises a, plurality of spaced, parallel, alternately grounded and insulated collector plates supported between parallel end plates, the grounded plates by rods extending transversely through them and secured to the end plates, and the insulated plates by rods extending perpendicular to them and secured to insulators mounted on the end plates. The grounded plates 14 are mounted on rods 13 and spaced apart by metallic spacers 15. The insulated plates 22 are similarly mounted and spaced, but two of the rods 27 are threaded in bushings held in disc-shaped ceramic insulators 29. The insulators 29 have cylindrical portions held in inwardly extending portions of a bracket 17 by cotter pins. With the cotter pins removed the insulators can be rotated to move the rods axially and so adjust the spacing between the grounded and insulated plates. The brackets 17 are secured to the end plates 10 upon which the rods 13 for the grounded plates are mounted. The brackets 17 together with flanges on the end plates 10 completely enclose the insulators 29. Several similar cells may be stacked together in abutting relation in a precipitator. Specification 475,443 is referred to.
