[Class 40 (v)] The knob controlling the degree of noise suppression in a radio receiver is adapted simultaneously to modify other parts of the circuit to suit the modified setting. In one embodiment the three position noise-suppressor switch 4, which controls the degree of the receiver muting in known manner, is ganged with switches 1, 11 the former of which in one of its positions cuts out the I.F. amplifier V2, the latter controlling the insertion of an auxiliary reproducer 10 sensitive to high frequencies. The cutting out of the reproducer and/or amplifier may occur in one or two of the three positions of the switch 4. In a second embodiment, (Fig. 2, not shown), in some positions of the noise-suppressor control resistances are inserted in the tuned I.F. circuits to broaden the response thereof. The control may also change the circuit from a superheterodyne to a " straight " circuit by cutting out the frequency changer in some positions. Specification 427,747 is referred to.
