Improvements in Folding Apparatus for Boxes and the like.

Реферат: 11,364. Fischer, R. E. May 19. Paper &c. boxes.-Relates to a machine for folding paper &c. boxes from the blanks shown at Fig. 5. Figs. 1 and 2 are sections of parts of the machine at right-angles to each other. The blank, with gummed edges, is placed over the opening b in the plate a, and the stamp c descends and presses it into the channel between the pieces d, folding up the sides 1, 2 at right-angles to the bottom 3. The stamp c is attached to the rail 8, which slides in the standards 9, being operated by the crank-disc 6 and rod 7. The gummed side flaps 4, 5 are alternately creased by the plates g, g<1> reciprocated by the levers h connected to arms 17 operated by cams 19. Sliding between the vertical standards m are plates l, operated by cams 21, and, on these plates, other plates k slide in slots k<1>. The fingers n are linked to the plates l, and are provided with rollers p engaging the surfaces of the plates k. The box is supported between the plates d by the slide e, oscillated by the arm f operated by the cam 15. When the slide e opens, the box, which has been grasped by the fingers n, is carried downwards by the motion of the slides l. When the slides k come in contact with the fixed stops q, their motion is arrested, but the slides l, descending further, cause the rollers p to enter the recesses p<1>, whereupon the springs o open the fingers n, and the box drops on to the transporting- chain shown in Fig. 2, by which it is delivered from the machine. The chain consists of a number of plates s with flanged sides adapted to hold the boxes, and loops t joined by rivets v. It is mounted on two shafts, and is operated by sprocket-wheels 25, 26 and a chain 27.
