Composite shoes; hoof-supporting packing.- The cushioning-m a t e - rial 15 is pressed around projections on a metal base 2 and continued over the base to form a bearing-surface for the hoof, as shown in Fig. 2, which shows a section on the line II-II of the top plan view, Fig. 3. The sides of the base are recessed at 3 to provide a wearing-edge 7, which is widened at the toe and heels. Dovetailed projections 9, 12 at the toe and heels have downwardly-turned lips 10, the cushioning-material being pressed into the spaces so formed and around projections 13 on the inner sides of the shoe. The surfaces of the base 2 are roughened or grooved to ensure a firm engagement with the cushion. The projections 9, 12 may be replaced by a continuous series of projections 13.
