Secondary batteries.-Relates especially to batteries for use in automobiles or other moving vehicles, one of its objects being to provide a battery which is entirely devoid of joints and in which soldering and clamping are dispensed with. Fig. 1 shows an elevation, partly in section, of one form of battery, Fig. 2 shows a cross-section, and Fig. 3 shows a plan, the cover having been removed. The outer cell is divided into two compartments A, A' by a partition a. On the inner surface of the cell are ribs a<5>, a<6>, in which active material is placed or formed. In this cell one or more cells B, B<1> are placed concentrically, each insulated from the outer cell and from each other, as shown. These cells have ribs, on both their inner and outer surfaces, for holding active material. The innermost part of the battery consists of a ribbed plate or electrode C, C<1>. The two compartments A, A' may be made separate from each other. The cells may be cast or be forced by hydraulic pressure, and may be made of lead or other metal, alloy, or material.
