Improvements in the Method of and Means for Locking or Sealing the Joints of Sanitary and like Pipes or Conduits.
Реферат: 19,402. Coulthurst, J. L. Sept. 9. Spigot-and-socket joints.-Relates to locking or sealing sanitary or like pipe joints, so that the pipes cannot be disconnected without breaking the joint. Fig. 1 is an an elevation of one pipe joint. Bituminous or cement jointing rings a<1>, b<1> are applied to the ends a, b of the pipes. Two or more recesses or sockets are left in each of these jointing-rings, so that, when the pipe ends are put together, the recesses will come opposite to each other as shown at b<11>. A plastic cement is then poured or rammed into these recesses and into the space between the jointing-rings. In a modified joint, dovetailed lugs fitting into corresponding sockets are formed on the spigot-and socket ends. In another joint, the dovetailed sockets or openings may be undercut, and the cuts may extend into the metal of the pipe.
