Improvements in Driving Chains for Bicycles, Motor-vehicles, and the like.
Реферат: 21,049. Heys, W. E., [Terrot & Co.]. Sept. 27. Chains; driving- mechanism.- Chains for bicycles &c. are provided with means for shortening or lengthening them. A pair of links a, provided with slots c, can be placed in the position shown in Fig. 1 or in that shown in Fig. 2. A recess d is formed in the end of the slot to hold the pin b securely, but a nut may be provided in the pin if required. More than one pair of adjusting-links may be used, but the extention of the chain to the extent of one link is generally sufficient to enable it to be removed. The gear of a bicycle &c. can be readily changed by removing the chain from one pair of wheels and replacing it on another pair. A chain fitted upon new wheels with the link in its extended position can be readily shortened, to take up slack, by turning it to the other position.
