Improvements in Supports for use when Laying Gas and Water Mains and the like
Реферат: 25,036. Laytom, A. E. Nov. 14. Lifting-jacks.-Relates to means for use in supporting gas and water mains and the like in concentric position during the operation of laying. Each pipe C<1> is supported by screw jacks, each comprising a \/-shaped head B secured to a screw A, Fig. 3, which passes through a winged nut F, and through an aperture formed in the upper part D of a tripod stand. When the screws have been adjusted until the pipes are in line, the joints are made in the usual way. In a modification shown in Fig. 5, the screw A passes through a threaded aperture in the upper part D of the tripod, and the upper end of the screw fits loosely within an aperture in the head B, but is prevented from moving therein longitudinally by a cross-pin i which engages with a groove a<4> cut in the screw.
