Реферат: 20,651. Johnson, C. M. Sept. 8. Undercutting.- Relates to undercutting - machines of the circular-saw type and to methods of undercutting. The saw A is carried on a cantilever arm I pivoted at X on the frame L. which can be turned about the axis S on the carriage M by means of the ring joint L<1>. The carriage is traversed by a screw O along a bar N, which is supported on adjustable posts Q. The cantilever I is swung by worm gearing T so as to cause the saw to enter the coal. By inverting the parts to the left of the joint L<1>, and by altering the inclination of the saw by turning the bar N in its supports, a V-shaped block of coal may be cut out, instead of holing out piecemeal. As shown, the saw may be driven from a motor H through bevel and worm gearing B, F, G. The Provisional Specification states that any form of saw or sawlike tool may be used for coal mining.
