[Also in Group XVII] An apparatus for pouring thermoplastic material into lipstick &c. moulds 11, comprises a chamber 2 surrounded by a heating jacket 3, and a number of passages 7 leading from the chamber and arranged to discharge simultaneously some of the material into the moulds, the passages being opened and closed by valves 13 simultaneously actuated by a common control. The valves are situated in the heated, inner end of the passages so that they will not become clogged by solidified material. The valves are held upon their seatings by compression springs 16 interposed between the valves and a plate 15 carrying the valve stems 14. The plate 15 is slidably mounted upon a number of guide posts 17 and can be raised by a lever 22 against the pressure of compression springs 20. The valve control means may be actuated by power-driven cams. The moulds are held in position by means of adjustable angle irons 2. An apertured sliding valve plate may be used instead of the valves shown. This plate may be displaced by means of a lever. The pouring spouts may be embodied in a readily removable unit or a number of units in such a manner that the number or configuration of the spouts may be easily changed.
