The vehicle system further includes a controller configured to switch the contactor to an open state, upon receiving a fault condition signal, and if the contactor failed to open, activating the disconnector to break electrical connection between the battery module and the electrical bus. In some embodiments, the fault condition signal is generated upon detecting a vehicular impact. In some embodiments, the disconnector is a pyrotechnic device powered by a vehicle battery included in the vehicle system. 1. A system , comprising:a battery module configured to couple to an electrical bus via a contactor, wherein the contactor is switched to an open state upon a fault condition; anda control circuit configured to activate a pyrotechnic disconnector to electrically and physically break electrical connection between the battery module and the electrical bus in response to detecting a current flow along an electrical path connecting the battery module to the electrical bus after the contactor is switched to the open state.2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the current flow is caused by the contactor failing to open.3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the battery module includes a high voltage battery for providing power to the electrical bus.4. There is provided an onboard motor controller that starts a failsafe process in short time at a vehicle collision. A control circuit in the motor controller acquires an acceleration detected by an acceleration sensor. When the acceleration is equal to or higher than a prescribed value, the control circuit determines that a collision of the vehicle has occurred, and executes a switching process of a control mode of a motor. The control circuit immediately switches the control mode of a motor from voltage phase control to current vector control when the collision is detected. The control circuit reads current values from current detectors. When an overcurrent is detected, the control circuit executes a failsafe process to turn off the MOSFETs of an inverter. The control circuit stops a supply of electricity to the inverter by turning off a power supply relay, thereby stopping the rotation of the motor.

A method is provided for monitoring a state of health of a vehicle system and includes measuring a plurality of parameter values for the system at different running conditions as an end of line test, storing the parameter values in a fingerprint file, measuring the same plurality of parameter values that is comprised in the fingerprint file after a predefined time interval, adding a predefined ageing offset to the fingerprint file, where the ageing offset corresponds to a predicted wear of the system during the predefined time interval, thereby obtaining a time modified fingerprint file for the system, comparing the measured values with the time modified fingerprint file, and issuing a message if the measured values deviates from the time modified fingerprint file. The state of health can be compared with initial measurements such that the state of health of a vehicle system or component can be monitored over a longer time period.

When the temperature of the coolant fluid is judged to no longer exceed the corresponding temperature threshold, the limiting is released.

A controller operates an inverter in either six-step mode or PWM mode depending upon motor speed, motor torque, and the inverter input voltage. A method of selecting the operating mode may determine a transition threshold based on the ratio of rotor speed to inverter input voltage, reducing the approximation error associated with multi-dimensional lookup tables. When the speed and voltage vary while maintaining a constant ratio and constant torque, the transition threshold does not change. Consequently, the controller remains in the same mode.
