A security indicator has a two part telescopic locking bar attached to the handle of a door at one end and to the door or door jamb at the other end through an end piece. The device includes a cup or tube which encases the door handle, preventing use of the handle. The length of the bar is fixed by aligning apertures in each part of the telescopic locking bar to form a continuous aperture, inserting a frangible pin through the continuous aperture and locking the frangible pin in place with a padlock received by a hole in the frangible pin. The pin has a narrow portion which can be broken by relatively little human force. The device requires someone who does not have the key to the padlock on the frangible pin to break the frangible pin to enter a door fixed with the device. A broken pin alerts the occupant that an entry has occurred during his/her absence. A sleeve normally protects the narrow portion but slides easily away to expose the narrow portion when entry is desired.

A resettable combination lock mechanism includes a plurality of outer lock dials and a plurality of inner lock dials. A state identification lock comprises two sets of locking unit that are independently operable for opening and closing the lock. The lock comprises a lock body in which an indicator and a latch are arranged. The indicator is braked and maintained at a specific indication position by the latch. When one of the locking units is operated to open the lock, the indicator is driven and switched to another indication position that shows up in an observing window and is retained in position by the latch and not allowed to reset. Only by performing lock opening operation again with the other locking unit, the latch can thus be released to allow the indicator to return to the original indication position. Thus, the indication position of the indicator can be easily identified through the observing window formed in a surface of the lock body.

A lock for the door of an automobile which is provided with an electrical signalling circuit for indicating to the driver whether the lock is opened, partially closed, or fully closed. The lock has a main supporting body. A movable member is held on the body and assumes a first position when the lock is closed, a second position when the lock is partially closed and a third position when the lock is open. The lock also includes a magnet switch which is connected in the electrical signalling circuit. A projection is connected with the movable member such that when the movable member is in the first position at which the lock is fully closed, the projection is interposed between the reed relay and the permanent magnet and this interrupts the magnetic flux lines between the magnet and the reed relay contacts, causing the contacts to open and opening the electrical signalling circuit. The movable member and projection thereon are so placed that when the movable member in the second or third positions at which the door lock is respectively either partially closed or fully open, the projection is not positioned to interrupt the magnet flux lines and the switch contacts remain closed, energizing the electrical signalling circuit.
