A device, which fulfills at least the task only specified, is indicated in the requirement 1. The further requirements indicate preferential execution forms. The water level measuring device, or briefly the level gauge, consists accordingly essentially of a mounting plate or a guidance and a measuring tube. The measuring tube can be lowered by the mounting plate through up to the ground of the water collecting basin. The water level in the measuring tube corresponds thereby exactly to the surrounding level of the water in the plant container and/or. the surrounding over pot, so far available. Now the upper end of the measuring tube singleproves locked with a finger, then this level in the measuring tube remains when pulling out and can be read off. The measuring tube can exhibit additionally markings, which facilitate it to determine whether the water level is in a permitted range. The invention is continued to describe with remark examples with reference to figures. Fig. 1 shows a cut by a Pflanzeng.efäss 1 with planting substrate 2 and a plant 3. The plant container 1 is in a Ubertopf 5, in which still another water catch pan 6 under the plant container 1 is on-regulatory. The guide tube 30 is inserted at the best one with empty plant container 1 and in-given then the planting substrate 2 with plant 3 into the plant container 1. In particular it is problem-free possible to put the guide tube 30 through a drain hole 32. If the guide tube 30 must be introduced later, then it must in a kind drilling procedure by the planting substrate 2 and that more or less seals root work 35 to the ground the 4 of the plant plant 1 to be pushed forward. Preferentially the opening 14 in the owner 8 and the guide tube 30 are so far that the measuring tube 16 is loosely in it led, thus e.g. larger with a width around 0.1 mm up to 1 mm than the outside diameter of the measuring tube 16. The figures 3 and 4 show two possibilities, how the guide tube is build upable 30 from segments. The guide tube can be adapted thereby to different plant container heights. For measuring the opening at the upper end of the tube (21) is closed with a finger and the tube (16) removed for viewing.
