Rotary pump with helical housing or rotor - with seal strips having long resilient common sealing element in contact with housing wall

The rotary pump is of the type having a housing (2) with helical inner contour or a rotor (3) with outer helical contour. The rotor is provided with a number of transversely slideable, mutually sealing, parallell seal strips (6) in sealing engagement with the housing. Rotation of the rotor relative to the housing causes an axial flow of the line fluid. In the region of the strip-to-housing seal a common flexible sealing element (25) is provided, extending axially over at least part of the length of the rotor and radially protruding from the ends of each of the strips. The element may have a circular cross-section and may be retained in corresponding recesses in each of the strips.
